More than 15,000 students participate in '7 days of green living'
"7-day green living challenge" is an activity organized by the University of Finance and Marketing Youth Union this year, with the aim of creating a practical playground for union members and young people to carry out campaigns to join hands in protecting the environment.
Students participate in the "7-day green living challenge" with the content of taking pictures and posting them on their personal pages to spread the word and call on friends to do the same. This playground challenges students with a different topic every day. Day 1 is to say no to plastic cups, use personal water bottles when buying water. Day 2 is to say goodbye to plastic bags, by using cloth bags. Day 3 is to plant any tree. Day 4 is to recycle plastic waste into useful items such as decorations, vases, pencil cases, Day 5 is to live healthy by exercising and playing sports. Next, day 6 is the challenge of using public transport and day 7 is to save water.
Each student who successfully completes 5/7 challenges will be recognized for "living green". As a result, the experience of conquering the challenge after 7 days attracted more than 15,000 students to participate, about 2,000 students per day actively responded.
Not only students, the message of "green living" also spreads to lecturers and staff of the University of Finance and Marketing.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Phung, Deputy Director of the Center for Admissions and Business Relations of the University of Finance and Marketing, said that every year, the University Youth Union organizes activities to encourage the spirit of green living for young people. In 2024, the 7-day green living campaign with 1 small action each day aims to create a widespread movement among students, helping young people realize that green living is not difficult, but only comes from the spirit of self-awareness in simple daily tasks.
"With this campaign, the school hopes that young people will not only live green for 7 days but also on all other days, contributing to making this planet greener," added Master Kim Phung.
In addition to the "7 days of green living" campaign, the University of Finance and Marketing's Youth Union also organized many other activities to raise students' awareness of green living. For example, during the Youth Union Day with the theme "Proud of a strip of land and rivers", the Youth Union implemented the design of a map of Vietnam using nearly 1,000 plastic bottle caps. The activity both fostered awareness of protecting Vietnam's sovereignty and raised awareness of environmental protection, building a green and sustainable Vietnam.

Every year… "living green"
Not only the University of Finance and Marketing, many other universities have also promoted and spread green living to students in many different forms. Notably, there are places where 'green living' activities have been organized continuously for many years.
For example, the Youth Union of the Faculty of Environment and Resources of Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry has organized the "Green Living" academic competition for many years. The competition aims to promote and educate awareness of environmental protection and adaptation to climate change. In addition, this is also a useful playground for students inside and outside the school to learn, improve their knowledge about the environment and contribute to creating a green earth.
At Dong Nai University, Associate Professor Dr. Huynh Bui Linh Chi, Head of Training Department, said that these contents are integrated into the curriculum. Specifically, the subjects related to the environment such as: environment and people, environmental education for preschool children, integrating environmental education in teaching nature and society... In addition, green living education content is also integrated into the life skills subject for all students of the school, with topics such as: introduction to pollution, climate change and biodiversity. Especially green living habits, ways to save energy, recycling and sustainable consumption.
In the extracurricular education program, Dong Nai University students also participate in volunteer activities to protect the environment such as: cleaning parks, planting trees, planting grass... Responding to the tree planting festival to forever remember Uncle Ho, Dong Nai University planted 60 trees to create a green-clean-beautiful landscape.

Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics organized the Green Living Festival (UEH Green Day) with a series of activities attracting nearly 5,000 students to participate. The Eco Fashion Workshop activity was quite attractive when students recycled used jeans into unique and lovely fashion accessories. Students from Ho Chi Minh City Open University went to apartment buildings in Nha Be district, Ho Chi Minh City to spread the "Green Living Festival in Apartments". Students together decorated the green living exhibition space with lunch boxes, barley eating utensils, bamboo toothbrushes, natural cleaning products, paper ballpoint pens... with the desire to build a green lifestyle combined with a beautiful traditional lifestyle in harmony with nature. These activities have contributed to raising awareness of green living, starting a green living movement in the area.
