Thai Thuy District Cultural and Sports Center: Promoting the effectiveness of cultural institutions

Implementing Resolution No. 13/2017/NQ-HDND on planning the system of cultural and sports institutions at the grassroots level in Thai Binh province until 2020, with a vision to 2030, in Thai Thuy district, in parallel with the attention to investing in the synchronous construction of a system of cultural houses, sports areas in villages and residential groups, there is also the investment in building a spacious and modern District Cultural and Sports Center. In 2022, the Center will be put into operation to meet the needs of people for training, performing cultural and artistic works, and physical training and sports.

Thai Thuy District Culture and Sports Center organizes training courses to meet the needs of grassroots cultural and sports staff.

Nurturing "nuclei" of grassroots arts and sports

In September, the Thai Thuy District Cultural and Sports Center was the first location chosen by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to host training courses to improve professional skills for the management board of cultural houses, sports areas and the core of cultural, artistic and sports teams, groups and clubs. As one of the newest and most modern district-level cultural and sports institutions in the province, the center has a total area of ^12,000m2 , a construction area of over ^2,000m2 with a scale of 3 floors, a 500-seat theater hall and a nearly ^200m2 stage equipped with standard sound and lighting, in addition to an ^800m2 outdoor performance area. The spacious facilities have created a convenient practice and performance space for nearly 500 students, practically contributing to improving the quality of the training class.

During the training days, Ms. Ngo Thi Luy, Head of the Mai Diem Residential Group Folk Dance Club, Diem Dien Town (Thai Thuy) was most enthusiastic about staging folk dances with many members. Ms. Luy shared: Although my local folk dance club was only established about 2 years ago, it already has more than 30 sisters practicing on weekday evenings, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere. The club has participated in performances at local festivals and exchanges with neighboring communes, thereby tightening and enhancing the spirit of solidarity. However, the biggest difficulty at present is staging diverse performances and organizing practical activities related to the needs of members. Through the training class, we have been exposed to skills to attract members and women to participate in activities; at the same time, we have a better understanding of how to stage performances and practice for women, this is a very useful thing that we can apply immediately to improve the quality of the club's activities in the future.

Sharing the same opinion with Ms. Ngo Thi Luy, Mr. Pham Xuan Truong, Dong village, Tan Hoc commune (Thai Thuy) said that he is currently an active member participating in the activities of the Dong village cultural house rowing club. Organizing training courses is a necessary task that should be maintained annually to help village and hamlet bases create and maintain the development movement according to the model village cultural house scale.

Mr. Pham Xuan Huong, Thuy Phong commune (Thai Thuy) - one of the active members participating in staging and performing Cheo art at the training class shared: Training classes like this help people participating in grassroots cultural work to supplement their knowledge and understanding of Cheo, singing and dancing, folk dance, thereby building the movement of their locality. I find learning at the training class very useful for me to realize that there are many things I have not grasped, I will proactively learn more, improve my knowledge to sing Cheo more smoothly and better.

Improve people's spiritual life

Not only is it a convenient location for practical training courses to improve the effectiveness of grassroots cultural and sports activities, Thai Thuy District Cultural and Sports Center is also a place to nurture talents and regularly practice for nearly 10 clubs of table tennis, yoga, badminton, dancing, and singing.

The Huu Nghi Table Tennis Club, chaired by Mr. Nguyen Manh Thang, now over 70 years old, was established more than 2 years ago. The club has participated in many grassroots tournaments in the province and nationwide and won many awards, including the team championship series C of the Thai Binh Newspaper Cup Table Tennis Tournament in 2023. Mr. Thang always wondered about the need to create the best and most favorable training environment for practitioners to be able to develop their own abilities. Therefore, as soon as the new location of the Thai Thuy District Sports and Culture Center came into operation, he decided to establish the table tennis club. He shared: The center helps and creates conditions for the club to have a comfortable space for activities, organize training and competition activities, and equip sports equipment and facilities that meet standards and are very spacious. With this location, the club has recently boldly organized a grassroots tournament, attracting table tennis clubs in the province to participate, creating a healthy playground, thereby contributing to promoting the movement of practicing and competing in table tennis in particular, and practicing sports in general in the province.

Sharing about the orientation in the coming time, Ms. Ho Thi Phuong, Director of Thai Thuy District Culture and Sports Center said: With phase 2, we are investing in more sports areas and swimming pools, so the cultural and sports facilities of Thai Thuy district are very diverse. We will promote the achieved results and develop more clubs, regularly organize movement activities here to make the most of the cultural and sports facilities.

Completing the system of cultural and sports institutions is difficult, but improving the efficiency of operations, so that the institutions are truly attached to people's lives is a task that requires more dedication and perseverance. With the attention of authorities at all levels and the positive response of the people, institutions such as the Thai Thuy District Cultural and Sports Center will truly be a regular destination, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of the people.
