Recognizing the role of cultural and sports institutions in social life, Van Don district has directed communes and towns to include the construction of cultural and sports institutions in their work programs and plans, in conjunction with the tasks of building new rural areas and developing the local socio-economy.

With the motto “The State and the people work together”, the construction of cultural and sports institutions in Van Don district has been actively implemented and brought about practical results. Accordingly, the district has a mechanism to support funding for localities to build cultural and sports facilities. In addition to the State budget, the construction, renovation and upgrading of cultural and sports facilities also received positive contributions from the people.
The Van Don Economic Zone Cultural - Sports Center project is a highlight for the investment, completion and putting into use of the district's cultural and sports facilities in 2024, inaugurated in May, with an area of nearly 3 hectares, with a total investment of nearly 91 billion VND, invested by the District People's Committee. The project includes the following main items: A multi-purpose sports stadium with a grandstand of over 1,200 seats; 1 outdoor swimming pool with 7 swimming lanes, 50m long, 22m wide to ensure training and development of swimming for students of schools and people in the district, and at the same time organize competitions of the district and the province. In addition, there are also football, badminton and tennis courts with synchronous and modern technical infrastructure.
With many correct policies, Van Don currently has 72 village and area cultural houses with a capacity of 100 seats or more, meeting the regulations of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. All cultural houses have spaces for cultural and artistic activities, sports and physical training grounds, and entertainment for children (badminton courts, volleyball courts, table tennis courts, soccer courts, folk dance activities, etc.). 100% of village and area cultural houses are fully equipped with sound and lighting equipment, broadcasting systems, wifi, and basically ensure seating, and some cultural houses are equipped with outdoor sports equipment.

One of the typical units in building and developing the system of cultural and sports institutions in Van Don is Ha Long commune. Currently, in addition to the commune's Cultural and Sports Center put into use since 2019, including the following items: Cultural house, sports field, children's playground effectively meeting the needs of organizing events, conferences, as well as cultural, artistic and sports activities for officials and people in the area, 15/15 villages have cultural houses that have been upgraded, renovated, and renovated to be spacious and clean, contributing to creating favorable conditions for people to participate in activities and practice sports.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh, Party Cell Secretary, Head of Village 8 (Ha Long Commune) shared: The cultural house in Village 8 was upgraded and repaired very spaciously in 2021, which is a place for collective activities of the people and children in the village. Since being upgraded and repaired, people have regularly maintained volleyball and folk dance activities; children have a place to practice singing, dancing, etc. Thereby, effectively serving the needs of exchange, activities, enjoyment of spiritual culture and health training of the people, contributing to building a healthy cultural life at the grassroots level.
It can be seen that the construction and completion of the system of cultural and sports institutions in Van Don district has been implemented synchronously, along with the management and effective exploitation of activities, not only contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of people in rural areas, but also shortening the gap between rural and urban areas, creating conditions for people to access many convenient and modern services. Thereby, it has promoted its function and efficiency, becoming an attractive place for community activities, contributing to improving the cultural and spiritual life of the people.
