Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on November 15 that there is still “modest hope” for the possibility of resuming Russia-US dialogue after Donald Trump won the presidential election, because at the moment, the prospect of bilateral dialogue simply does not exist.

“There is hope, a modest hope, that at least dialogue at a lower level will resume,” Peskov said in an interview with the New York Times .
The Kremlin spokesman also affirmed that Russia will not look at everything through “rose-colored glasses”.
“We understand well that making statements during the election campaign is one thing, but when a person enters the Oval Office, everything is different,” Mr. Peskov concluded.
Earlier, on November 7, speaking at a press conference, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Moscow was ready for open dialogue with the US if the initiative came from Washington after Donald Trump was re-elected President.

Dialogue is always better than mutual isolation," Russia's top diplomat said when asked whether Moscow planned to maintain contact with the new US administration.
"We will see if there are any proposals and I repeat, it was not Russia that severed relations and Russia has no authority to propose restoring those relations. If there is an initiative to sit down and have a frank conversation about our position without any unilateral demands, we will be ready for that," he added.
Foreign Minister Lavrov described the problems facing Russia-US relations as “very deep”, stemming from the perception among US elites that any rival on the international stage must be subdued unless someone questions America’s global dominance.
