Milestones of National Target Program 1719

Since starting to implement projects under the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for the 2021-2030 period, Phase I: 2021-2025 (National Target Program 1719) in the coastal border districts of Soc Trang province such as Vinh Chau, Tran De, Cu Lao Dung, there has been no more situation where people from the coastal area are busy with their onion beds, the yield is dependent on the weather, and when harvesting, there is always the refrain of good harvest and low prices; there is also no more situation where women have to run around waiting for their husbands to finish their fishing trips to have shrimp and fish to sell.

The projects of the Program have been implemented effectively, contributing to creating a new look for the hamlets of ethnic minority areas. Having the opportunity to return to the coastal border area today, you will be able to travel on straight asphalt and concrete roads connecting the villages, new spacious houses are built close together, you will see the radiant faces of farmers when the harvested products have been sold at a good price...; all thanks to the timely support from the special mechanisms and policies of the Party and the State, in which the National Target Program 1719 has made a clear mark in the lives of ethnic minorities here.

After 4 years of implementation, the National Target Program 1719 has not only brought about comprehensive development but also strengthened the trust and consensus among the people. Thereby, thousands of ethnic minority households in coastal border areas have been supported with land for production, housing, domestic water and job conversion...

Not only did it create opportunities for a career change with a stable income, but it also provided rice, food and necessities. "Now in my hamlet, the traffic is very good, every house has electricity, running water... the government always propagates and guides important knowledge to work together to build a clean, civilized hamlet... We are now much better off than before; every child in our family can go to school", Ms. Sa Ri said.

Also in Lai Hoa commune, Mr. Phan Van Nguon is a near-poor household, next to his newly built spacious house, he spoke with emotion: "This house was supported by the Border Guard's capital, worth 50 million VND. Before, seeing my wife and children having to "protect from the sun and rain", I did not dare to dream of having a spacious house like this. Now, our family focuses on making a living to have a stable income. This house shows the concern of all levels for the people staying in the border area. Therefore, we continue to follow the Party, follow Uncle Ho, join hands with the Army to protect the border.
