Buon Don is a legendary land with majestic natural landscapes and is known as the land of elephants in the Central Highlands. This place is also famous for its hunting and taming of wild elephants, along with the image of brave warriors, the "elephant hunting king". Among them, the elephant hunting king Y Thu Knul (1828 -1938) is considered the founder of the profession of hunting and taming wild elephants.

Mr. Y Thu Knul has two bloodlines: his father is Laotian who migrated to Ban Don to settle down, his mother is Mnong ethnic group. According to the old people here, around the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century, Laotians came upstream from the Serepok River to trade and exchange goods with the people of the Central Highlands. Seeing the beautiful scenery and hospitable people, some traders decided to stay here to make a living and make a living . Therefore, Laotians married Ede, Mnong, and Gia Rai people, creating a generation of children with two bloodlines.

To build this house, "elephant hunter king" Y Thu Knul mobilized 18 elephants into the forest to carry wood, 14 skilled workers carried out the project, in which the foreman was a Laotian woodcarver responsible for the design.

Each artifact is clearly marked on the boards placed right next to it.

Typically, a 90-120m long buffalo leather rope is the main tool for hunting wild elephants. To create a complete rope, the skin of 7 male buffaloes is needed. After weaving, the rope is dried day and night on a tree for 3 months. Before being put into use, a ceremony must be held during a farming season. This way, the rope will be strong, durable, and can be used for hundreds of years without rotting. In addition to the rope, the elephant saddle pad is also an indispensable item on hunting trips. This pad is also made from wild buffalo skin, reserved only for experienced elephant hunters who have hunted over 70 elephants.
