On June 28, the workshop "Artificial Intelligence - Opportunities and challenges for employment for female workers and female leaders in private enterprises" was organized by the Vietnam Business Network for Supporting Women's Empowerment (VBCWE), the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD-VCCI) in collaboration with FPT Software Company Limited (FPT Software) under FPT Group, in both in-person and online formats.

The workshop aims at three main objectives: Connecting and sharing knowledge about AI, the impact of AI on the employment ecosystem for workers, especially female workers; Sharing the understanding and practice of AI of businesses, thereby proposing advice and support from relevant organizations; Assessing the impact of AI on women-led businesses or businesses employing many female workers and consulting on support solutions in the next phase.

The workshop was attended by representatives of businesses in the VBCWE network, representatives of businesses in the VBCSD network, Women Entrepreneurs Associations of some provinces/cities in the member network of the Vietnam Women Entrepreneurs Association, the Red Star Entrepreneurs Club and a number of organizations and associations interested in this issue.

Speaking at the workshop, Ms. Ha Thu Thanh - President of the Vietnam Business Network for Women's Empowerment (VBCWE) said: "Building a fair and inclusive working environment for everyone is the goal that VBCWE always strives for with businesses.

With the strong development of artificial intelligence (AI) affecting the future of female workers' jobs, we are eager to accompany businesses to raise awareness and have appropriate response strategies to make the AI transformation process more comprehensive, both promoting the benefits of the tool and protecting the jobs of everyone, especially female workers, and ensuring equality in the workplace."

According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh, Vice President of the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), President of VBCSD: “Promoting gender equality and economic empowerment for women in the Vietnamese business community is the commitment of VBCSD and VBCWE.

To achieve this goal, especially in the era of artificial intelligence, when AI can affect the work of female workers, we want to join hands to support businesses to proactively update knowledge and master technology. All for the future of sustainable business development where equality is the core value."

According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phong, Director of Artificial Intelligence at FPT Software, the Group has always actively supported women to shine in the technology industry, especially in the field of AI. The proof is that at FPT Software, the percentage of women is 30%, high compared to the general level of the industry.

“In addition, the rate of women participating in the AI field is also very high, especially in the management sector. Women absolutely have great opportunities in the AI field, and we want to share tips to help female leaders and workers apply the power of AI to have more effective work,” he said.

Besides the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data and Cloud Computing, AI is the core technology of the 4th Industrial Revolution.

In recent years, the world has recognized the development trend and the enormous impact of AI in life. According to estimates by the American multinational investment bank Goldman Sachs, the application of AI can help increase labor productivity and increase global GDP by 7% per year in the next 10 years. Vietnam is not outside this inevitable development trend.

AI is emerging as an important tool and goal, leading to changes in the future of work. AI is not only an inevitable trend but also has a strong impact on the development of a new generation of workers and leaders, especially women.

This requires a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of AI to maximize the opportunities and deal with the challenges that AI brings. Enterprises in the Vietnamese private economic sector need to clearly recognize the role of AI, especially those businesses led by women or with a large female workforce.

A comprehensive understanding of AI in terms of both opportunities and challenges becomes an urgent need for private sector businesses, especially those with a high proportion of female workforces and focusing on developing female leadership teams.

This is also one of the important activities that VBCWE is aiming for and will implement this initiative with VBCSD in the near future.

The Vietnam Business Network for Women's Empowerment (VBCWE) was established in January 2018 under the Australian Government's Investing in Women initiative to support four countries in the region: Myanmar, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam.

VBCWE is a pioneering and professional organization in connecting, supporting, and promoting the building of diverse, equitable, and inclusive values for Vietnamese private sector enterprises - an important foundation for sustainable development for enterprises in Vietnam.

The VBCWE Network is a group of influential businesses with large workforces in Vietnam. Businesses participating in VBCWE commit to embedding the values of equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace into their business and development strategies.

All aim to improve business efficiency, towards sustainable development, then spread and inspire other businesses across the country to join this commitment.
