Focus on protecting mental health for female entrepreneurs

On the afternoon of March 11, 2025, at the Center for Supporting Women's Development (Hanoi), the WeLead Pioneering Women Leaders Network in collaboration with the Department for Private Enterprise and Collective Economy Development, the Ministry of Finance and its partners organized the 2025 Women Entrepreneurs Forum with the theme "Mental health in the digital age - creating a sustainable working environment".

The forum was attended by: Ms. Trinh Thi Huong , Deputy Director of the Department of Private Enterprise Development and Collective Economy, Ministry of Finance; Prof. Dr. Cao Tien Duc, Vice President of the Vietnam Psychiatric Association, Principal of Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Professional Member of the Central Committee for Health Care and Protection of Officials; Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Minh, Founder and President of WeLead and the Speakers are leading experts in psychiatry, psychology and cyber security.

The event was also attended by nearly 200 delegates representing leaders of ministries, branches, partner organizations, business associations, Women Entrepreneurs Associations/Associations, expert networks, press agencies and female entrepreneurs representing provinces and cities.

Overview of the forum

This is an activity in the program "Improving mental health towards sustainable development for female entrepreneurs" pioneered by WeLead. This program is the continuation of a series of activities in 2023 - 2024 with topics related to the mental health of female entrepreneurs within the framework of the regional project "Promoting the development of female entrepreneurs: Creating a gender-responsive business ecosystem (CWE)" implemented by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN-ESCAP), the government partner agency in Vietnam is the Department of Enterprise Development - Ministry of Planning and Investment, now the Department of Private Enterprise and Collective Economy Development, Ministry of Finance.

The forum is an opportunity for female entrepreneurs and experts to discuss and identify potential challenges to mental health in the digital age as well as suggest solutions to protect mental health against the risk of loneliness in the digital workplace, protect the brand and image of entrepreneurs and businesses against the storm of fake news and ways to overcome the pressure of working online as well as manage time effectively.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Minh, Founder and President of WeLead, delivered the opening speech at the Forum.

Speaking at the opening of the Forum, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Minh, Founder and President of WeLead, shared: "Studies have shown that women are at higher risk of emotional disorders than men due to biological factors and the impact of the social environment. As business leaders, female entrepreneurs who are healthy both physically and mentally not only face pressure and challenges calmly but can also lead and manage their teams effectively and sustainably." At the Forum, she delivered the message "Invest in mental health, reap sustainable success".

At the forum, two panel discussions on " Protecting mental health in the digital age" and "Mental health and sustainable business development" , speakers discussed, provided and updated information and knowledge on the impact of digital transformation on mental health, ways to protect and overcome challenges in the digital connection era to maintain mental health and sustainable business development.

According to Prof. Dr. Cao Tien Duc, Vice President of the Vietnam Psychiatric Association, Principal of Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Professional Member of the Central Committee for Health Care and Protection of Officials: "Mental health and mental health are very important factors for a happy personal life, a sustainable business development, a democratic, strong and developed society. Investing in mental health, the return on investment for countries expanding the scale of community-based health care".

Experts suggest that there needs to be a comprehensive solution, a long-term development strategy for the national psychiatry sector and regular and extensive dissemination of mental health information to the entire population. In particular, women and female entrepreneurs need to self-identify their own mental health and that of their employees in the company, thereby identifying and intervening early for those at risk, providing active care and treatment for patients, rehabilitating, and minimizing the risk of mental disorders.
