Musician Tran Tien is healthy after a serious illness

Musician Tran Tien recently appeared at the announcement ceremony of the live concert Tran Tien - Half a Century of Wandering, marking his 50-year journey of composing.

Live concert Tran Tien - Half a century of wandering took place on the evening of May 13, at the National Convention Center in Hanoi. The organizers decided to perform this musical accompaniment to pay tribute to musician Tran Tien's contributions to the country's music industry, on his birthday.

At the age of 76, musician Tran Tien said he still needs to perform because it is a way for him to "prevent death". He has just recovered his health after a long period of treatment for nasopharyngeal cancer. He said: "I have nasopharyngeal cancer. The nasopharynx is what I use to earn money to support my wife and children, but it is cancerous, and it is stage 4...".

He continued: Seeing many patients die before my eyes, I became more haunted and weakened. But at that time, I told myself: "You are such a coward, Tien. There was a time when bombs and bullets were falling on your head, so why are you falling now?"

That is why musician Tran Tien did not allow himself to fall and wrote music to help him overcome his illness. He smiled: "I am sick but I still sing, still write music and still love and that is how I stay healthy."

He said if he died, he wished to die next to his guitar like a cowboy dies on horseback.

One of the things that musician Tran Tien said he doesn't like is people saying "last concert, farewell concert". Every time someone uses this phrase to describe his concert, he "loses interest and... runs away".

As for musician Tran Tien, he has been writing music and singing for 55 years. From a stage with 25,000 spectators to a stage with only 2 people listening, he still sings. "I keep asking my children and grandchildren to sing with me. I am a soldier so I sing when I want to sing. But if I sing for free forever, who will support me, so I have to sell tickets" - the musician of "Little Sun" humorously said.

He said he would live another 200 years or maybe he would pass away tomorrow, but as long as he lived for 1 day, he would live it to the fullest.

For music lovers, mentioning Tran Tien means wandering and wandering. He said: "In my blood, it has all of those things. But the most accurate way to describe myself is probably "wandering". My family used to be the 6th richest in Hanoi, then life pushed me to go out and earn money to help my mother raise my younger siblings. Then I joined the army, wandering from place to place. Being a singer is the same. Wandering is my life even though I didn't choose it."

Musician Tran Tien also shared that he has experienced many jobs, from backstage help, shoe shiner, ironing clothes for singers to working as a porter, so he understands the value of work. "We must know how to appreciate everyone and everything. That is the way for us to know how to live a decent life" - he confided.

He said his life is just singing, if he likes it he joins in with his children and grandchildren, but if he doesn't like it he "runs away". Why make himself sad?

Talking about his current passion, musician Tran Tien said he still writes music and as he said: "If I die, I wish to die with my guitar like a cowboy dies on horseback."
