In recent days, the heat has been intense, so people's consumption of many types of "cooling" fruits has increased sharply.
Walking around the traditional markets in the province, it is easy to see that the stalls sell a wide variety of fruits in both types and quantity. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu - a fruit vendor on Le Van Phan Street (Phu Thuy Ward) said: During the hot season, the demand for fruits increases, most notably citrus fruits and brands such as oranges, Vinh oranges, followed by watermelons, depending on the type, the purchasing power increases from 5-10%.
Many people buy fruit as a refreshment.
A fruit that many people are looking to buy to quench their thirst is fresh coconut, currently priced at 10,000 - 13,000 VND/fruit, but purchasing power is still quite high. Fresh coconut selling points in traditional markets and on Thu Khoa Huan, Dang Van Lanh, Tu Van Tu streets... are also bustling with buyers. While busy chopping coconuts for customers to take away, a coconut vendor near Phu Thuy market (Phan Thiet) said: Just this morning, she sold more than 50 Siamese coconuts, at a price of 13,000 VND/fruit due to the high demand for thirst quenching. For about a month now, no matter how much coconut is brought in, it has sold out. Customers who buy to quench their thirst often buy the whole stall at a price of 8,000 VND/fruit depending on size, and buy individual coconuts at 13,000 VND/fruit.
Fruit stalls have increased number of customers.
In addition to coconut, other cooling fruits such as watermelon, orange, tangerine, grapefruit, cantaloupe... are also selling well, the number of people buying fruit has increased sharply. The strongest consumption is watermelon and fruits containing a lot of vitamin C such as lemon, grapefruit... According to fruit traders, it is also the fruit season, so the amount of fruit in the markets is abundant, diverse, and the prices are stable. Watermelon price is 13,000 - 15,000 VND/kg, orange 12,000 - 15,000 VND/kg, tangerine from 35,000 - 40,000 VND/kg, South African pear 90,000 VND/kg, avocado 45,000 - 60,000/kg...
At imported fruit stores, the number of customers buying fruit has also increased. The owner of an imported fruit store on Ton Duc Thang Street (Phu Thuy Ward) said: unlike every year, this month the amount of imported fruit to the store is always in high demand because of high customer demand, along with the fact that the price of imported fruit is quite good, not much different from domestic fruit. The types of fruit that are in high demand today are: oranges, tangerines, grapes, apples... from the US, Korea, New Zealand, South Africa... with prices ranging from 70,000 - 190,000 VND/kg depending on the type. The amount of goods consumed at this time is quite good, as soon as the imported goods are sold out. According to the marketing department of Co.opmart and Lotte mart supermarkets, recently, the demand for vegetables and fruits of customers, especially cooling fruits, has increased by 15-20% compared to the beginning of the month 1-2 months ago. Prices of many types of fruits and agricultural products at supermarkets are currently quite stable.
Under the hot sun in the hot season, in addition to the bustling fruit stalls and shops, coffee shops and sidewalk restaurants also increase the preparation of many refreshing drinks to serve customers. These models bring in a fairly high income for the owners. Among them, the most popular are still lemon tea, peach tea, orange lipton, fruit juice... with reasonable prices, so they are favored by young people and office workers. During hot weather, the need for people to find refreshing foods and drinks is an urgent issue. However, people need to choose to buy foods and drinks at reputable places to ensure food hygiene and safety.
