(Dan Tri) - The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has approved increasing the number of days off for the 2025 Lunar New Year for students to 11 days as proposed by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training.
Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy has just signed an official dispatch to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City regarding the adjustment of the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday schedule.
Considering the proposal of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, the City People's Committee approved the proposal to adjust the Tet holiday for preschool education, general education, and continuing education in the area from January 23 to February 2, 2025 (ie December 24 to January 5) .

Thus, students in Ho Chi Minh City will have 11 days off for Tet instead of 9 days as originally planned.
Before the adjustment, the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday for preschool, primary, secondary and high school students is expected to start from January 25, 2025 to February 2, 2025 (ie December 26 to January 5), a total of 9 days off.
With this holiday schedule, many opinions say that students in Ho Chi Minh City have too few days off for Tet, causing many inconveniences for students and families in arranging to return to their hometowns. Students have little time to rest and have fun during Tet, and have to travel during peak days when train and bus tickets are expensive...
For many years, students in Ho Chi Minh City have had a long Tet holiday lasting 14-16 days, including the two weekends before and after Tet holiday.
Thus, 2025 is the year that students in Ho Chi Minh City will have the least Tet holiday in many years.
