(NLDO) – The Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department plans to conduct tax audits on individuals who have influence on digital platforms, or have income arising from e-commerce.
The above information was provided by Mr. Nguyen Hoa Bac, Head of the Department of Business Household, Individual and Other Revenue Management (Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department), at the Conference to summarize tax work in 2024 and deploy tasks in 2025.

Specifically, the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department will review and inspect organizations and individuals with revenue from e-commerce platforms from 2025 to calculate taxes.
In particular, the tax authority plans to conduct tax audits on famous individuals, digital influencers or those with income from e-commerce. Accordingly, in the first phase, the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department will conduct a pilot tax audit on 35 artists and celebrities.
Mr. Nguyen Hoa Bac said that in 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department established a working group to review the list of famous individuals, content creators (such as YouTubers, TikTokers, KOCs, KOLs), and individuals selling products via livestream on social networking platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, YouTube... to check compliance with tax laws.
As a result, the tax authority has handled 14,581 organizations and individuals, with the total amount of tax arrears and fines collected through inspections reaching more than VND 286 billion, an increase of 31% compared to the amount of tax arrears and fines in 2023.
Thanks to effective propaganda and support, business households and individuals operating e-commerce have increasingly raised their awareness of tax compliance. Typically, a business household has self-declared and paid 11.5 billion VND (including tax, administrative fines, and service income).
Many other business households also voluntarily went to the tax office to declare and pay over 1 billion VND, including taxes, administrative fines and late payment fees in 2024. Some other typical cases include collecting taxes from a celebrity with an amount of 4.7 billion VND and a streamer with an amount of 1 billion VND.
