Ho Chi Minh City wants to spend more than 106 billion VND to build the Southern Resistance Monument

On the morning of December 9, at the 20th session of the 10th term Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, the City People's Committee submitted a report on the investment policy decision for the project to build the Southern Resistance Monument.

The Southern Resistance Monument is being built at September 23 Park (District 1), with a total project investment of VND106.2 billion from the city budget. Implementation period is from 2024 to 2026.

Including investment in the construction of the Southern Resistance Monument and the landscape area around the monument; Investment in the technical infrastructure system (overall water supply and drainage, overall electricity system, trees, landscape...) serving the monument area; Investment in the monument's artistic lighting system...

According to the City People's Committee, this is a project that engraves the revolutionary spirit of the people of the City in particular and the South in general, and is also a symbolic cultural project, an architectural and artistic highlight of the City, with special significance to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.

The project aims to honor and express gratitude to revolutionary soldiers, heroic martyrs and all Vietnamese people who sacrificed and contributed to the independence, freedom and unification of the country and the help and support of the people of the world for the just struggle of our nation.

At the same time, it demonstrates the will, determination, and indomitable revolutionary fighting spirit of our entire Party, army, and people, while honoring the achievements and remembering the sacrifices of comrades, compatriots, and revolutionary soldiers in the struggle for national independence, in order to contribute to educating the tradition and history of revolutionary struggle for cadres, party members, union members, association members, and people of all walks of life.

The construction of the work also creates a space that is proportionate, solemn, suitable, and in harmony with the regional landscape, urban aesthetics, synchronous in terms of traffic infrastructure, connectivity with cultural and historical works and architecture in the area and the city center, combining maximum exploitation of the natural landscape, creating a highlight of historical and cultural values for the people as well as attracting tourists when coming to the city.
