Hotel fire in Ho Chi Minh City: Couple takes 2 small children to the rooftop to call for help

At the time of the hotel fire with smoke billowing, the young couple took their two children to the rooftop to call for help. Luckily, the firefighters arrived in time to approach and rescue them.

On the evening of March 16, the authorities of Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City were still investigating the cause of the fire at a hotel on Hoang Huu Nam Street, Long Thanh My Ward, which trapped many people.

At around 3pm, a fire broke out in a room on the 2nd floor of the hotel (about 100m2 wide with a 6-storey design). At this time, many people shouted to each other and used mini fire extinguishers to put out the fire but failed. According to witnesses, at the time of the fire, there were many people renting the hotel.

The fire caused black smoke to billow, causing suffocation. Many people panicked and ran outside. Some people on the upper floors were trapped and called for help. The scene was very chaotic.

Hotel staff and some nearby residents used mini fire extinguishers to go up the stairs to rescue them, but were stopped by the smoke and fire. They were helpless and had to retreat.

Upon receiving the report, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police (PC07) of Ho Chi Minh City Police dispatched many fire trucks from many units and nearly 30 police officers to the scene. Firefighters wearing gas masks and oxygen tanks climbed over the roof of the neighboring house to approach the trapped people.

According to the representative of PC07, the police were able to rescue 6 people and extinguish the fire, preventing it from spreading. During the fire, a couple with their 2 small children climbed onto the roof to call for help. Firefighters were able to approach and calm the victims and bring them out safely.

Police also approached the room on the third floor to rescue the trapped couple.
