On the evening of October 20, the award ceremony of the fourth political essay contest on Protecting the Party's ideological foundation in 2024 took place at the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics.

Unified awareness of protecting the Party's ideological foundation
Speaking at the award ceremony, General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that in every revolutionary period, the Party has always paid special attention to protecting the Party and the Party's ideological foundation. Through Party Congresses, there have been many policies on this issue.
After the Politburo issued and led the implementation of Resolution No. 35-NQ/TW, dated October 22, 2018, the work of protecting the Party's ideological foundation and fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints has been carried out in an increasingly systematic, unified, synchronous, comprehensive, drastic, and in-depth manner with many new, creative, and effective ways, in which organizing a political contest on protecting the Party's ideological foundation is one of the practical activities to bring the Party's Resolution into real life.
After 4 times of organization, the contest has shown strong vitality with wide spread throughout the political system and all classes of people; many good quality works, demonstrating the intelligence, emotions, enthusiasm and responsibility of the authors, have been published, broadcast, and touched people's hearts, contributing to consolidating trust, enhancing solidarity and unity within the Party, within the political system and social consensus in carrying out the task of building and protecting the socialist Fatherland, constantly consolidating and enhancing the potential, position and prestige of our country and our Party.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the General Secretary and President acknowledged, highly appreciated and commended the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, the Central Steering Committee 35, the central and local departments, ministries and branches for upholding their responsibilities and achieving many results in the task of protecting the Party's ideological foundation, fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints and making many contributions to the success of the contest.
The General Secretary and President noted that after 40 years of renovation, with the position and strength that have been accumulated, with new opportunities and fortunes, we have gathered all the necessary conditions and are facing a historic opportunity to bring the country into a new era, an era of national growth, successfully implementing the 100-year strategic goals under the leadership of the Party, 100 years of the founding of the country, striving to become a developed country with high income, following the socialist orientation by the middle of the 21st century.
In the context of the world changing in an epochal manner, the impact of the fourth industrial revolution, stemming from the law of development, the path to socialism, bringing the country into a new era, besides opportunities and advantages, there are also many difficulties and challenges.
Hostile forces have never given up their plot to overthrow the leadership role of the Communist Party and the socialist regime in Vietnam, focusing on destroying ideology, directly attacking the Party's ideological foundation, counterattacking and denying to eliminate Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh thought, considering this a "breakthrough" and "decisive front".

To maximize the value of the contest, continue to strengthen the protection of the Party's ideological foundation, and fight against erroneous and hostile viewpoints in the new revolutionary period, the General Secretary and President suggested that it is necessary to unify the perception that protecting the Party's ideological foundation and fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints is a class struggle on the ideological-political theory front; it is the task of our entire Party, army, and people, and an important task of the entire political system in building the Party and the political system.
Protecting the Party's ideological foundation and fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints must be closely linked to economic, cultural and social development, improving people's material and spiritual lives, and bringing prosperity and happiness to the people, which is the most crucial factor. Firmly protecting and supplementing and developing the Party's ideological foundation; creatively applying, supplementing and developing Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's thought and the theory of renovation; building and perfecting the basic theoretical system on protecting the Party's ideological foundation and fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints in the new revolutionary stage.
Building and consolidating the core force to protect the Party's ideological foundation associated with consolidating the people's hearts on the basis of the all-people national defense posture, the all-people national defense posture associated with the people's security posture, and a solid people's security.
Our entire Party, people and army are making efforts to accelerate and make breakthroughs to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and to best prepare for Party congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress.
2025 is also the year of many important political events of the country such as the 80th anniversary of the founding of the country, the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, and the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
General Secretary and President To Lam believes that with the prestige and influence that has been established, the Political Contest to Protect the Party's Ideological Foundation will continue to innovate, closely follow practical requirements, increasingly effectively serve the political tasks of agencies, units, localities and the country, contributing to building and firmly protecting the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Highlights in the implementation of Resolution 35
Speaking at the conclusion of the 2024 competition, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Nguyen Xuan Thang said that this year's competition was launched at the end of January 2024.
Immediately after launching at the Central level, all provincial, municipal and central party committees paid attention to leading and directing the widespread implementation of the contest down to the grassroots level with 32/67 focal points organizing the contest and awarding prizes in their agencies and localities.
Many press and media agencies have actively promoted the contest early and continuously. Many units have organized training and development for core staff.
Through the grassroots competition, units and localities selected 5,203 excellent works to submit to the Central competition.
After two rounds of judging at the Central level conducted in a fair, objective and responsible manner, the Competition Steering Committee selected outstanding works and typical groups to award prizes.

“The success of this year’s contest is a highlight in the implementation of Resolution 35, while also making an important contribution to the work of building and protecting the Party’s ideological foundation. With its wide reach in the political system, in society and abroad, the contest has shown its strong appeal, going beyond a regular press award, becoming a forum for a large number of cadres, party members and people to express their feelings, trust and responsibility towards the Party, the State and our regime,” emphasized comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang.
The outstanding result this year is the huge number of entries, 468,792 works. The new feature this year is the large participation of young people, pupils and students with 35,000 works. The contest also attracted 610 works from Vietnamese people working and studying abroad, 13 works from foreigners.

At the Award Ceremony, the Steering Committee and Organizing Committee of the contest awarded 20 collective prizes with outstanding achievements; Prizes for the oldest and youngest authors participating in the contest; 20 Promising prizes; 12 A prizes, 22 B prizes, 37 C prizes and 63 Encouragement prizes.
Also at the award ceremony, Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, Head of the Party Central Committee's Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia launched the fifth political essay contest on protecting the Party's ideological foundation - 2025.
