Honoring the colors of art through the lens of a female photographer

(NADS) - On March 4, 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association officially opened the 12th exhibition "Homeland through the lens of female photography", on the occasion of the International Women's Day March 8 and the Hai Ba Trung Uprising. This year's exhibition brings together 53 female photographers with 159 outstanding works, reflecting subtle perspectives on the landscape, life and people of Vietnam.

This year's exhibition is not only a place to honor the talents of female photographers but also a testament to the continuous development of female photography in Ho Chi Minh City.

The works on display cover a wide range of topics, from daily life to urban architecture, from majestic natural beauty to authentic, emotional moments of the Vietnamese people.

In particular, in addition to the live exhibition at the headquarters of the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association (122 Suong Nguyet Anh, District 1), the Women's Photography Working Group has launched an online photo book.

This publication summarizes the outstanding activities of female photographers in Ho Chi Minh City in the past year, and introduces 159 works by female photographers with portraits of the authors.

Throughout 2024, female photographers participated in a series of creative activities, notably the "Colors of Ho Chi Minh City" contest launched by the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association, in response to the 50th anniversary of national reunification.

The contest attracted 1,450 works by 71 female authors, with 81 outstanding works exhibited and 11 awards given. These works not only recorded diverse perspectives on Ho Chi Minh City but also contributed to bringing the names of many female authors to the ranks of official members of the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association.

Not stopping there, the sisters also actively participated in creative trips to many places such as Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, Vung Tau, recording valuable images of Vietnamese culture, people and nature. Those efforts were rewarded with many high awards at major competitions.

At this exhibition, the Hai Au Photography Association - a unique association with 100% female photographers, launched the photo book "Proud of Ho Chi Minh City", capturing vivid moments of a modern city that still bears the mark of history and culture.

The content section with 284 works fully represents the contents from large infrastructure projects to new urban areas, preserved relics, festivals, cultural activities, charity, sports, military, etc., depicting a dynamic and developing Ho Chi Minh City, the economic locomotive of the whole country.

The works were created with the love and pride for Ho Chi Minh City of the female photographers of Hai Au Association, along with the solidarity of the entire group of women when making the book.

In particular, the photo book “Proud of Ho Chi Minh City” won second prize at the contest “Ho Chi Minh City – 50 years of heroic pride”, a testament to the tireless dedication of female artists in depicting the beauty of the city through the art of photography.

At the exhibition, the Hai Au Photography Association presented photo books to all invited guests, distinguished guests, and visitors to the exhibition, as a contribution to promoting the image of a proud Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of national reunification.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, a representative of the Women's Photography Working Group emphasized: "The works at this year's exhibition are the result of the sisters' relentless passion and efforts to overcome all difficulties. Hopefully, the exhibition will inspire many young female photographers to continue pursuing their passion and contribute more to the country's photography industry."

The exhibition “Homeland through the lens of female photography” will take place from March 4 to March 10, 2025, promising to bring art lovers new, delicate and emotional perspectives on the homeland and people of Vietnam.
