On January 12, musician Luu Thien Huong caused a stir in public opinion when he posted a clip and an article "accusing" a female colleague, a lecturer at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, of throwing a phone straight at her.
Sharing with VTC News , musician Luu Thien Huong said that before posting this story on her personal page, she sent information to the school's leadership but received no response.
“After I posted this article on my personal page, the Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music responded. They agreed with me that Ms. H.’s actions were wrong.
However, I later saw the director respond to the media that the incident was 'not accurate yet'. I have not discussed right or wrong, but immediately saw that the act of losing control and physically impacting a colleague was unacceptable. I am very sad because there is no justice for myself," the female musician expressed, saying that she has not received any apology from her colleague.
Luu Thien Huong said that before bringing this matter to the public, she was very concerned because this would have a huge impact, not only on the education sector but also on the place where she works.
"I immediately stopped teaching at the school after the incident happened. I cannot continue teaching in an environment where teachers behave out of control like this. I have to speak up to protect myself, to bring this bad behavior to the public to condemn in a professional music teaching environment," the female musician said.
Musician Luu Thien Huong has spent 5 years teaching at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music.
Regarding professional knowledge, Luu Thien Huong said that lecturer H. did not understand what a beat master (a beat that has been adjusted and processed for sound) was, and that prohibiting students from singing a beat master was unreasonable, and that this view would restrain students' creativity. The musician said that she had given her opinion but was ignored, and then her female colleague had acted violently.
“I am still waiting to see if the conservatory will handle the situation properly, or if it will allow Ms. H. to continue teaching. I am very worried because this is very dangerous for a generation of future artists,” said Luu Thien Huong.
On the morning of January 12, the musician posted an article sharing that she was thrown a phone at by a master, Meritorious Artist MH, lecturer at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music after giving comments and arguing about expertise. Specifically, Luu Thien Huong did not agree with the MH lecturer forbidding students from using laptops to process sound and sing "mastered" beats.
She said: "Because Ms. H. did not understand the explanation, I asked the technical department to check and explain professionally, but she did not agree. Because I saw some offensive and unfounded statements, I used my phone to film and protect myself. Ms. H. threw the phone at me, luckily I avoided it."
On the afternoon of January 12, Mr. Hoang Ngoc Long, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, said that the board of directors had received the above information and because this was a sensitive matter, he could not say anything more. The decisions must be approved by the council and the board of directors, and the school will respond by next week at the latest.
