This is one of the activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (1973-2023).

Spreading the "friendship" between Vietnam and Japan

Mr. Mizushima Kozo - Chairman of the Japan Business Association in Ho Chi Minh City, representative of the organizing committee - said that September 21 is the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan .

From 2022, Japan will establish a special committee to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Japan-Vietnam diplomatic relations and carry out many meaningful activities.

“Last year, we held a Vietnam - Japan Friendship Song Contest and the song Tomodachi - Friendship won the best song award.

This song is about equal friendship, regardless of distance, age, race, or skin color.

To bring the song closer to the people of the two countries, we continue to carry out this project to find 5 candidates to come to Japan for cultural exchange" - Mr. Mizushima Kozo shared.

Mr. Ono Masuo - Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City - hopes that people will know more about the activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Vietnam through the keyword "Tomodachi - Friendship".

Cultural exchange opportunities for young people

The Vietnam - Japan Friendship Song Project "Tomodachi - Friendship" is expected to take place from September to December 2023.

The project will select candidates online and in person in 5 cities: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Da Nang and Can Tho.

Contestants are candidates from primary school to university age (from 6 to 22 years old).

The jury for selecting candidates includes Japanese and Vietnamese musicians.

According to the organizers, the selection criteria for candidates do not focus on candidates knowing how to sing or speak Japanese .

"We will select those who have made an effort in singing and performing the song Tomodachi - Friendship in a pure and emotional way" - Mr. Mizushima Kozo added.

According to the plan, the 5 selected candidates will go to Japan to participate in a number of activities such as: visiting and exchanging with the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, exchanging with students of a school in Japan and singing the song Tomodachi - Friendship with Japanese friends.

From now until the end of 2023, the Special Committee to Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of Japan-Vietnam Diplomatic Relations will organize an e-sports tournament at Nguyen Du Gymnasium (HCMC) on October 7.

In addition, on September 20, the ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations will take place at the City Theater (HCMC) and on September 21, it will be held in Hanoi.
