Towards high-quality vaccine production in Vietnam

NDO - The world's leading pharmaceutical group Pfizer will support VNVC to improve its knowledge in building a vaccine factory that meets international standards, moving towards Vietnam proactively producing high-quality vaccines, meeting domestic demand and participating in the global vaccine supply chain.


On March 18, the world's leading pharmaceutical group Pfizer officially signed a cooperation agreement with VNVC Vaccine Company on sharing knowledge in the field of high-quality vaccine production in Vietnam.

Pfizer will support VNVC in improving its knowledge to build an international standard vaccine manufacturing plant in Vietnam. This cooperation focuses on sharing expertise and developing joint capacity in the field of vaccine manufacturing from Pfizer to VNVC.

Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen said that the cooperation between VNVC and Pfizer is an important milestone showing that Vietnam is gradually integrating deeply and accessing modern technologies, especially in the field of building an ecosystem for the production of new drugs and new-generation vaccines with sustainable value in Vietnam.

The Deputy Minister of Health highly appreciated the efforts of VNVC and research organizations that have continuously searched and innovated to help Vietnam become self-sufficient in vaccine solutions, ensuring a stable and high-quality supply.

Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen also said that it is extremely important for VNVC to develop capacity, build a highly qualified team, promote clinical research and trials, and create a quality management system that meets international standards. This is the core factor for Vietnam to not only produce vaccines for domestic needs but also reach out to the international market.

According to US Consul General Susan Burns, the cooperation between VNVC and Pfizer marks an important milestone in the growing partnership between the United States and Vietnam, especially taking place on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations and the second year of the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership.

Sharing about the challenge of vaccine technology transfer with Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Ngo Quang, Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Training, Ministry of Health, said that in 2025, the Ministry of Health plans to implement 4 breakthrough plans in science and technology, including a project to research vaccine production technology, especially developing new technology vaccines.

From there, the Ministry of Health will create the most favorable conditions in terms of mechanisms, guidelines, and legal corridors for corporations and enterprises to develop new-generation vaccines and receive cooperation transfers from major pharmaceutical corporations in the world. The Ministry of Health also highly appreciates Pfizer's help in training human resources in Vietnam, especially human resources for research on new-generation vaccines to prepare for the project implementation plan from now until 2030.

Expressing his joy at the signing ceremony, Mr. Darrell Oh, General Director of Pfizer Vietnam, believes that this cooperation will have a positive impact on the lives of patients and the healthcare landscape of Vietnam in general.

According to Mr. Ngo Chi Dung, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of VNVC Vaccination System and VNVC Vaccine and Biological Products Factory, the cooperation and sharing of vaccine production knowledge with Pfizer is an important step forward for VNVC in particular and Vietnam in general in the goal of accessing the world's leading modern technologies in the field of vaccine production, proactively providing solutions to protect public health against dangerous infectious diseases.

After the signing ceremony, Pfizer Vietnam sent leading experts from around the world to organize knowledge sharing programs on vaccine production for the highly qualified team of experts at the VNVC Vaccine and Biological Products Factory.

For VNVC, the event marks an important step forward in the strategy of producing “Made in Vietnam” vaccines that meet international standards through the construction of a modern vaccine factory and cooperation with the world’s leading vaccine manufacturers.

According to Mr. Ngo Chi Dung, the signing of the cooperation agreement will open up opportunities for VNVC to learn from Pfizer's experience in modern vaccine production, helping VNVC quickly move towards producing high-quality vaccines using the world's most modern technology, thereby initially helping VNVC seek opportunities to receive transfer of advanced technologies in vaccine production, meeting domestic vaccination needs while aiming to participate in the global high-quality vaccine supply chain.
