Apply for leadership position, high salary
The incident of a person using a doctorate degree not listed in the database with the name NTH to participate in teaching and be appointed as head of the department at Vietnam College of Industry and Trade is attracting public attention.
It is worth mentioning that this person used to teach at a number of universities, even applying for leadership positions such as dean and deputy dean with documents that were later discovered to be fake.
A representative of Van Hien University (VHU) said that this unit had received Mr. NTH's application with a degree similar to the information stated in the article "Discovering a "super-fraudulent doctorate" who faked university and college teaching degrees" of Dan Tri. This person applied for the position of deputy head of the school's Information Technology Department.
"During the probationary period, the school found that the candidate did not meet the recruitment requirements and could not integrate with the faculty, so the school terminated the contract before the end of the first month," said a school representative.
According to the VHU representative, the salary this candidate offered during the interview was up to 40 million VND/month, the probationary salary was 35 million VND/month.
Similarly, the Head of the Administration and Organization Department of a university in Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City, said that Mr. NTH once brought his application to apply for the position of dean of this unit with the proposed salary during the interview being 35 million VND/month.
"The salary was too high and we could not prove our ability and qualifications, so we refused to hire him," this person said.
Guest lecturer at many universities
According to Dan Tri reporter, this person used to teach at several universities.
The leader of a university in Binh Thanh district, Ho Chi Minh City, said that Mr. NTH used to be a guest lecturer at this school but was no longer invited to teach.
Similarly, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education also admitted that Mr. NTH had taught as a guest lecturer at this unit.
"When this person was teaching at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, he was working at another university," said Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education.
When Dan Tri reporters contacted the phone number 0983064xxx that Mr. NTH used to apply for a job at the university and college, the person who answered the phone denied being NTH, but the photo on Zalo and the voice were identified by many university and college leaders as the person NTH had come to apply for a job.
In addition, on social networks, this person shared a lot of information related to a number of other schools.
Mr. Pham Thai Son - Director of the Admissions and Communications Center, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (HUIT) - confirmed: "If you look at Mr. NTH's profile picture on Zalo, some people mistake him for a lecturer at HUIT. However, Mr. H. has never been an employee of the school."
From this incident, Mr. Son said that units should have strict regulations for permanent and guest lecturers.
He cited HUIT's regulations, which have provisions on inviting guest lecturers, in which the faculty is responsible for the qualifications, qualifications, and teaching of the lecturers. Regulations on verification and teaching with guest lecturers are also strictly established.
"Verifying diplomas is now much easier than before when the Ministry of Education and Training and universities have a system to look up diplomas and certificates. Recruitment units only need to look up the Ministry's data or send an official dispatch to the school that issued the diploma for verification and will have immediate results," said Mr. Pham Thai Son.
As Dan Tri reported, the leadership of Vietnam College of Industry and Trade confirmed last October that the unit had identified a case of using a fake doctorate degree to apply to teach at the school.
Doctorate degree in computer science under the name of NTH (born August 13, 1981), awarded in 2021 (diploma number QH: 22086798528xx). In his scientific resume, he also provided a master's degree in information technology, awarded in 2010.
All diplomas show the place of issue as University of Science, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.
After receiving some information reflecting doubts about Mr. H's degree in October, Vietnam College of Industry and Trade sent the original notarized doctoral degree in the name of NTH to the University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City for verification.
"As a result, the degrees do not match the data stored at the University of Natural Sciences," said the school's leaders.
Never been a student of University of Science, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City
The University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City confirmed that Mr. NTH (born August 13, 1981) was never a student of this unit. Therefore, the master's and doctoral degrees he mentioned in his personal profile are incorrect.
