On August 8, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Cai Be district, Tien Giang province, Le Van Y, along with departments and branches, directly went to the scene to survey, visit, encourage, and give 5 million VND to each household affected by serious landslides.
Recently, on the North bank of Tien River, Khu Pho Hamlet, Hoa Hung Commune, Cai Be District, Tien Giang Province, a serious landslide occurred, causing 6 houses to collapse into Tien River.
Dozens of other houses are still in the danger zone, with the risk of further landslides in the coming time. Fortunately, the landslide did not cause any human casualties, but the worrying thing is that the landslide is located upstream, near the foot of My Thuan bridge.
The disaster happened so suddenly that people could only escape the danger zone. Assets accumulated over many years were swept away with the house into the river. Notably, the people here are all poor and work for a living. The part of the house that was not swept into the river was also severely damaged.
Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Hung Commune Nguyen Dinh Thong said that in the immediate future, the local government will deploy urgent solutions to protect the safety of people's lives and property.
Local authorities have relocated, arranged safe temporary accommodation, provided food and essential necessities for people while waiting for functional agencies to have fundamental solutions to stabilize production and life.
Located at the headwaters of the Tien River, Cai Be District is a "hot spot" for landslides on river banks and canals. Since the beginning of 2023, the district has had 36 landslides with a total length of nearly 6,000m. Of which, the landslide in Khu Pho Hamlet, Hoa Hung Commune this time is the most serious./.
