( Bqp.vn ) - On the morning of January 7, Missile Regiment 236, Division 361, Air Defense - Air Force (PK-KQ) held a ceremony to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its traditional day (January 7, 1965 - January 7, 2025). General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense sent a letter of commendation.

The ceremony was attended by Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense. Also attending were Lieutenant General Tran Ngoc Quyen, Political Commissar of the Air Defense - Air Force Service; former leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, the Air Defense - Air Force Service Command through the periods; generals, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces; representatives of the leadership and command of Division 361, Missile Regiment 236; representatives of Party committees and authorities in the stationed areas.

Speaking at the ceremony, Lieutenant General Tran Ngoc Quyen congratulated, acknowledged and commended the efforts and achievements that the 236th Missile Regiment has achieved over the past 60 years. To successfully complete the tasks in the new period, Lieutenant General Tran Ngoc Quyen requested the Regiment to constantly take care of building a strong and comprehensive unit, taking political construction as the foundation, Party building and cadre building as the key; maintaining the absolute, direct, and all-sided leadership of the Party in all situations, ensuring that the entire unit is a united bloc, unified in will and action. Regularly study and grasp the enemy's plots and tricks, especially the air defense target, to have accurate plans and determination to fight, contributing to perfecting the people's air defense posture in accordance with the characteristics of the mission and the local situation. Actively train and improve the technical and tactical level of the troops; Creatively apply the motto "Basic, practical, solid, safe, economical", attach importance to practical training and combat application, focus on training combat crews, training officers and training troops to adapt to complex conditions; strengthen night training, mobility training, deployment and rapid recovery of equipment.

Lieutenant General Tran Ngoc Quyen also requested the 236th Missile Regiment to continue to promote studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style in conjunction with implementing the Campaign to Promote Tradition, Devote Talents, and Be Worthy of the Title of "Uncle Ho's Soldiers" in the New Era; promote emulation activities to achieve outstanding achievements to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification; the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; the 70th anniversary of the Vietnam People's Air Force's Traditional Day; and the 60th anniversary of the Missile Troops' Traditional Day. In the immediate future, it is necessary to focus on preparing all aspects well to successfully organize the Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term.

Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Pham Huy Cuong, Commander of the 236th Missile Regiment, emphasized that in order to meet the requirements of the mission of protecting the North and fighting to liberate the South, on January 7, 1965, the 236th Missile Regiment - the first Missile Regiment of the Vietnam People's Army was established under the Decision of the Ministry of National Defense. Summarizing the resistance war against the US, saving the country, the Regiment mobilized and fought in 17 provinces and cities, fought 597 battles, shot down 196 US aircraft of all types, including 9 B-52 strategic bombers and 1 F-111 aircraft; was the first unit to cross the Ben Hai River, fought in the Central battlefield and was the unit that shot down the most enemy aircraft among the missile regiments of the Air Defense - Air Force Service. With its outstanding achievements, on January 11, 1973, Missile Regiment 236 was awarded the noble title "Heroic Unit of the People's Armed Forces".

After 60 years of building, fighting and developing, the Regiment was awarded the rotating flag "Determination to defeat the American invaders" by President Ho Chi Minh, 17 Military Exploit Medals, 66 Military Exploit Medals for collectives, 94 Military Exploit Medals for individuals and many other noble awards, contributing to embellishing the tradition: "Infinite loyalty, winning the first battle, fighting more and more, self-reliance, overcoming difficulties, solidarity and cooperation, making collective achievements".
