Promoting bilateral cooperation between Belarus and Vietnam

NDO - On September 23, the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations, the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Center, the Consulate General of the Republic of Belarus in Ho Chi Minh City, and the Belarusian National Agency for Marketing and Price Research jointly organized the opening ceremony of "Minsk Days in Ho Chi Minh City" and "Belarus-Vietnam Business Forum".

In his opening speech, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan expressed his appreciation for the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Belarus, which was established in 1992. He also emphasized that the bilateral relationship between the two countries has recorded many positive developments, with increased trust and regular delegation exchanges at all levels. According to statistics, in 2023, the total trade turnover between Vietnam and Belarus reached 65.3 million USD. As of the first quarter of 2024, Belarus had invested 32.25 million USD in 3 projects in Vietnam. With Vietnam having implemented the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the Eurasian Economic Union, of which Belarus is a member, Ho Chi Minh City believes that this will be a driving force to promote cooperation in the future.

In the first eight months of 2024, the import and export turnover between Ho Chi Minh City and Belarus reached more than 2 million USD. However, this figure still does not fully reflect the potential for cooperation between the two sides. Ho Chi Minh City hopes that through this event, the trade and investment cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Minsk will continue to develop strongly in many fields. At the event, representatives of businesses from the two countries also expressed their confidence in new cooperation opportunities, promising to open a new stage of development for bilateral relations. "Minsk Days   in Ho Chi Minh City" and "Belarus-Vietnam Business Forum" not only marked a new step forward in the friendly relations between Vietnam and Belarus, but also contributed to promoting economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
