NDO - In the first two months of 2025, Vietnam welcomed 3.96 million international visitors, an increase of 30.2% over the same period in 2024. Of these, the number of international visitors from Asia accounted for the majority with more than 3 million, contributing to affirming the attractiveness of the Vietnamese tourism brand in the region.

According to a report released by the General Statistics Office on March 6, in February alone, Vietnam welcomed nearly 1.9 million international visitors, up 23.7% over the same period last year. This result was achieved thanks to favorable visa policies, effective promotional strategies and recognition from international tourism organizations.

In terms of market size, China continues to be the largest market sending visitors with 956 thousand arrivals, accounting for 27.7% of the total number of international visitors. South Korea ranked second with 885 thousand arrivals. These are the two largest markets sending visitors, contributing 46% of the total number of international visitors to Vietnam in the first two months of 2025.

Following that, Taiwan (China) is the third largest market sending visitors with 218 thousand arrivals, the US holds the fourth position with 180 thousand arrivals. In addition, Japan, Cambodia, Australia, Malaysia, and India are also countries with a large number of tourists coming to Vietnam.

Notably, with 79 thousand visitors, Russia returned to the top 10 markets sending the most visitors to Vietnam in February, the first month of this year.

In terms of growth drivers, China is the fastest growing market with 77.8%. Meanwhile, key visitor markets such as South Korea, Taiwan (China), the US and Japan still maintain stable growth.

Most of the nearby markets in Southeast Asia grew well, notably the Philippines with an increase of 99.8%, Thailand with an increase of 93.2%, Cambodia with an increase of 79.6%... The Singapore market alone decreased by 8.2%.

Markets in Europe continue to have impressive growth, especially countries that enjoy unilateral visa exemption policies such as: UK, France, Germany, Russia, Denmark, Sweden, Norway...

In addition, the Polish and Swiss markets also recorded a fairly good increase in the number of visitors, increasing by 54.2% and 14.2% respectively compared to the same period in 2024. Recently, the Government issued Resolution 11/NQ-CP on short-term visa exemption for Polish, Czech and Swiss citizens from March 1 to December 31, 2025 under the 2025 Tourism Development Stimulus Program. This policy is expected to create momentum and attract more visitors from these three countries to Vietnam in 2025.

Welcoming nearly 4 million international visitors in the first two months of 2025 shows the positive development momentum of Vietnam's tourism industry after the recovery period in 2024. The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism believes that the coming months will be the peak season for domestic tourism, and the industry needs to focus on implementing a good tourism stimulus program to realize the goal of welcoming 22-23 million international visitors this year.
