On the occasion of Lunar New Year, civil servants, public employees and workers will have 9 days off from January 25 to February 2, 2025; on the occasion of April 30 to May 1, they will have 5 consecutive days off from April 30 to May 4; on the occasion of National Day, they will have 4 consecutive days off from August 30 to September 2.
The Government Office has just issued a document conveying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's direction on Lunar New Year holidays and some holidays in 2025.
Considering the proposal of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh agreed with the proposal on Lunar New Year holiday, National Day holiday and swapping working days on the occasion of Victory Day holiday on April 30 and International Labor Day on May 1.
On the occasion of Lunar New Year 2025, civil servants and public employees will have 9 consecutive days off, including 5 days off for Tet and 4 days off every week.
Specifically, civil servants, public employees, and workers will have 5 days off for Lunar New Year, from Monday (January 27, 2025) to Friday (January 31, 2025), that is, from December 28, the year of Giap Thin, to January 3, the year of At Ty.
However, in 2025, all 5 Lunar New Year holidays fall on weekdays, so workers will have 2 more days off before the weekend and 2 days off after the Tet holiday.
Therefore, civil servants, public employees, and workers in administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, and socio-political organizations will have a holiday from January 25 to February 2, 2025 (December 26 to January 5).
The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs also encourages businesses to give employees the above-mentioned holiday schedule. For businesses not included in the above-mentioned list, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs requires employers to decide on one of three Tet holiday options.
One is 1 day off at the end of the year of Giap Thin and the first 4 days of the year of At Ty. Two is 2 days off at the end of the year of Giap Thin and the first 3 days of the year of At Ty. Three is 3 days off at the end of the year of Giap Thin and the first 2 days of the year of At Ty.
Employers must notify employees of the Lunar New Year holiday plan 30 days in advance.
For April 30 and International Labor Day (May 1), the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs proposed a plan to swap working days from Friday (May 2, 2025) to Saturday (April 26, 2025) for 5 consecutive days off, from Wednesday to Sunday, ie April 30 - May 4, 2025.
National Day 2025 will be off on September 2 and the day immediately preceding it, meaning the holiday will last 4 days, from August 30 to September 2, 2025.
The Prime Minister assigned the Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs to notify administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, socio-political organizations, enterprises and workers according to regulations.
Agencies and units shall arrange and organize on-duty departments according to regulations and work reasonably to handle continuous work, ensuring good service to organizations and people, in which it is important to assign officers and civil servants to be on-duty to handle sudden and unexpected work that may occur during Tet and holidays according to regulations.
Ministries, agencies and localities have specific and appropriate plans and measures to encourage units, enterprises, organizations and individuals to actively and proactively implement production, business, economic and social activities, ensuring stable supply and demand of goods, services, prices and markets.
