Prime Minister directs strengthening of measles prevention and control

NDO - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just signed and issued an Official Dispatch on strengthening measles prevention and control.

Measles is a contagious respiratory disease that has caused large outbreaks; there is currently no specific treatment. In recent months, measles has been on the rise in some localities, and some localities have declared measles outbreaks. In order to proactively control, prevent and prevent measles from spreading and breaking out on a large scale, the Prime Minister requests:

The Minister of Health continued to: guide the implementation of measures to prevent and control measles, measles vaccination campaigns and early detection and thorough handling of outbreaks; organize well the admission and treatment of patients to protect the health and lives of patients; direct medical facilities under the Ministry of Health to organize admission and treatment according to the Ministry of Health's instructions; organize training to improve capacity in monitoring, diagnosing and treating measles.

The Minister of Education and Training directed educational institutions to implement measures to prevent and control measles according to the instructions of the health sector; monitor the health of children and students and immediately notify medical facilities when detecting suspected cases of the disease for timely isolation and treatment; and encourage families to take their children for full and timely vaccination.

Chairmen of People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities direct: closely monitor the epidemic situation in the area; regularly assess the risk of epidemics; proactively monitor and promptly detect cases of disease to thoroughly handle outbreaks, prevent the epidemic from spreading and breaking out; effectively carry out the admission, emergency care and treatment of patients.

Closely coordinate with neighboring localities, share and update the epidemic situation and effectively implement measles control measures; promptly organize measles vaccination for target groups according to the instructions of the Ministry of Health, especially in areas at risk of measles outbreaks or places with low measles vaccination rates; do not miss cases that have not been fully vaccinated against measles; propagate and mobilize people to proactively implement measures to prevent and control measles and take their children to be fully vaccinated on schedule according to the instructions of the health sector; instruct people with signs of illness to immediately go to medical facilities for timely examination, consultation and treatment; ensure logistics, medicines, equipment, supplies and chemicals for measles prevention and control; ensure vaccines when announcing measles outbreaks; strengthen inspection and examination of the implementation of epidemic prevention and control measures and strictly handle violations.

Minister of Information and Communications, General Director of Vietnam Television, Voice of Vietnam, Vietnam News Agency and press agencies to strengthen propaganda on measures to prevent and control measles; provide regular, complete and accurate information on the epidemic situation; prevent and handle incorrect information about measles.

Assign Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long to directly monitor and direct the implementation of this Official Dispatch. The Government Office, according to its assigned functions and tasks, shall coordinate with the Ministry of Health to monitor and urge relevant ministries, agencies and localities to implement this Official Dispatch; promptly report to the Prime Minister on any problems and difficulties in the implementation process.
