Prime Minister requests to strengthen measles prevention and control

Measles is a contagious respiratory disease that has caused large outbreaks; there is currently no specific treatment.

The telegram stated: Measles is an infectious disease transmitted through the respiratory tract, which has caused large outbreaks; there is currently no specific treatment. In recent months, measles has tended to increase in some localities, some localities have declared measles epidemics. In order to proactively control, prevent and prevent measles from spreading and breaking out on a large scale, the Prime Minister requested:

1. The Minister of Health continued:

a) Guide the implementation of measures to prevent and control measles, measles vaccination campaigns and early detection and thorough handling of outbreaks; organize well the admission and treatment of patients to protect the health and lives of patients;

b) Direct medical facilities under the Ministry of Health to organize admission and treatment according to the instructions of the Ministry of Health.

c) Organize training to improve capacity in monitoring, diagnosing and treating measles.

2. The Minister of Education and Training directs educational institutions to implement measures to prevent and control measles according to the instructions of the health sector; monitor the health of children and students and immediately notify medical facilities when detecting suspected cases of the disease for timely isolation and treatment; mobilize families to fully vaccinate their children on schedule.

3. Chairmen of People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities direct:

a) Closely monitor the epidemic situation in the area; regularly assess the risk of epidemics; proactively monitor and promptly detect cases of disease to thoroughly handle the epidemic, prevent the epidemic from spreading and breaking out; effectively carry out the admission, emergency care and treatment of patients. Closely coordinate with neighboring localities, share and update the epidemic situation and effectively implement measures to control measles;

b) Urgently organize measles vaccination for target groups according to the instructions of the Ministry of Health, especially in areas at risk of measles outbreaks or where measles vaccination rates are low; do not miss cases that have not been fully vaccinated against measles;

c) Propaganda and mobilize people to proactively implement measures to prevent and control measles and have their children fully vaccinated on schedule according to the instructions of the health sector; instruct people to go to medical facilities immediately when showing signs of illness for timely examination, consultation and treatment;

d) Ensure logistics, medicines, equipment, supplies, and chemicals for measles prevention and control; ensure vaccines when a measles outbreak is declared.

d) Strengthen inspection and examination of the implementation of epidemic prevention and control measures and strictly handle violations.

4. The Minister of Information and Communications, General Director of Vietnam Television, Voice of Vietnam, Vietnam News Agency and press agencies shall strengthen the dissemination of measures to prevent and control measles; provide regular, complete and accurate information on the epidemic situation; prevent and handle incorrect information about measles.

5. Assign Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long to directly monitor and direct the implementation of this Official Dispatch.

The Government Office, according to its assigned functions and tasks, shall coordinate with the Ministry of Health to monitor and urge relevant ministries, agencies and localities to implement this Official Dispatch; promptly report to the Prime Minister any problems and difficulties in the implementation process./.
