On this occasion, the President conveyed Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's invitation to Prime Minister Hun Manet to visit Vietnam. Vietnam and Cambodia established diplomatic relations on June 24, 1967. In 2005, the two countries' senior leaders agreed to set a new motto in developing bilateral relations: good neighbors, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability. With that orientation, the relationship between the two countries has been constantly consolidated and developed in all fields, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries, actively contributing to peace, stability and cooperation in the region and the world. Cooperation in the fields of security and defense between the two countries has been strengthened. Both sides have always affirmed that they will not allow any hostile forces to use their territory to harm the security of the other country. In 2019, the two sides signed two legal documents recognizing the achievements in demarcation and marker planting of about 84% of the Vietnam-Cambodia land border. The two sides are making efforts to negotiate and resolve the 16% of unfinished demarcation and marker planting to continue building a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and sustainable development. In 2022, bilateral trade turnover reached 10.57 billion USD, an increase of about 10.88% over the same period in 2021. In the first 10 months of 2023, bilateral trade turnover reached 7.1 billion USD, down 22.1% over the same period in 2022. Vietnam is currently the third largest trading partner (after China and the US) and the largest trading partner of Cambodia in ASEAN. To date, Vietnam has 205 valid investment projects in Cambodia with a total registered capital of 2.94 billion USD, ranking first in ASEAN and one of the 5 countries with the largest direct investment in Cambodia, and ranking second among 79 countries and territories with investments in Vietnam. Other areas of cooperation in education - training, transportation, culture, health, telecommunications, etc. have also received attention and been promoted.
