Abundant and diverse supply combined with promotional programs help keep prices of Tet goods stable on the last day of the year of the Dragon.

Fresh goods, vegetables are in high demand

Quick report on the market situation of some Tet goods from the Domestic Market Department – Ministry of Industry and Trade It is stated that on the fourth day of the Lunar New Year holiday and also the last day of the old year (the 29th day of the Lunar New Year), shopping focuses on fresh foods and vegetables for the year-end offering.

Although shopping activities at supermarkets in the previous days increased sharply (50-100% compared to normal days), supermarkets and shopping malls have had plans to replenish goods at counters and shelves, the supply of goods for Tet is still abundant and diverse combined with many promotional and discount programs and the prices of goods are still stable compared to previous days.

Retail channels have prepared abundant sources of goods, along with many attractive promotions.

Previously, speaking with reporters from the Industry and Trade Newspaper, a representative of the chain retail WinMart/WinMart+/WiN said that in preparation for the peak season of the Lunar New Year and to meet the increasingly diverse shopping needs of customers, the retail chain WinMart/WinMart+/WiN proactively worked with suppliers 2 to 3 months before Tet to increase inventory by 20% compared to the same period, ensuring abundant supply, avoiding shortages or sudden price increases.

According to Hanoi Trade Corporation (Hapro), to meet people's shopping needs before, during and after the Lunar New Year, the BRGMart supermarket system has coordinated with suppliers to stockpile Tet goods 2-3 times higher than other months of the year.

At traditional markets, supply has also been increased and is quite abundant to serve people's shopping needs. Spring Fairs, Tet markets, flower markets... continue to take place to serve people's shopping and sightseeing needs.

Commodity prices remain stable

By the morning of the 29th of Tet, the prices of most essential goods for Tet did not fluctuate dramatically and were relatively stable compared to the previous day. Compared to the same period last year, the prices of vegetables and some flowers such as chrysanthemums, lilies, gladiolus, and roses were about 5-10% cheaper than last year and there was no shortage; pork prices were about 15-25% higher because the price of live pigs in 2024 remained stable at a high level compared to 2023.

By the 29th day of Tet (January 28, 2015), prices of some goods remained basically stable compared to the previous day.

Specifically, for food items, prices of regular rice, high-quality rice and delicious sticky rice serving the Lunar New Year demand tend to be stable compared to the previous day.

Specifically, the price of high-quality rice in the Northern region ranges from 25,000 - 42,000 VND/kg; the price of sticky rice ranges from 29,000 - 38,000 VND/kg; in the Southern region, high-quality rice ranges from 22,000 - 38,000 VND/kg; the price of sticky rice ranges from 27,000 - 34,000 VND/kg.

Regarding fresh food products, the closer to Tet, the price of fresh food at traditional markets tends to increase slightly due to high consumption demand but the supply is still guaranteed to meet consumer demand. The price of pork, beef, and mackerel (in the South) increased slightly by 5,000-10,000 VND/kg compared to the previous day. Currently, the common price of pork is: rump 110,000-120,000 VND/kg, the price of pork loin and belly 130,000-160,000 VND/kg; grade I beef tenderloin from 250,000-280,000 VND/kg; price of feathered chicken 120,000-150,000 VND/kg; price of shrimp (26-30 pieces/kg): 400,000-450,000 VND/kg.

For vegetables, tubers and fruits: Although the weather is getting colder, the supply of vegetables and fruits is quite abundant and diverse, so prices are stable. The prices of some popular vegetables are as follows: cabbage: 10,000-15,000 VND/plant, kohlrabi: 5,000 VND/root, lettuce: 15,000-30,000 VND/kg, tomatoes: 10,000-15,000 VND/kg (depending on the locality), potatoes: 15,000-20,000 VND/kg, cauliflower: 10,000-15,000 VND/plant...

Regarding fruits, the prices of some delicious fruits, popular for offerings during Tet, tend to be stable compared to the previous day, except for dragon fruit and mandarin oranges, which tend to increase locally in some areas. Specifically: Dragon fruit 60,000-90,000 VND/kg; Cat mango 50,000-60,000 VND/kg; Mandarin orange 50,000-77,000 VND/kg; Dien grapefruit 20,000-25,000 VND/kg, imported apples 100,000-120,000 VND/kg, green bananas 100,000-250,000 VND/bunch (depending on size and locality)...

Flowers and ornamental plants are the items that people continue to buy a lot today, partly because they want to display them in time for Tet because they are afraid of the flowers blooming early, and partly because they want to buy discounted products close to Tet. People increasingly tend to buy small peach, kumquat, and apricot trees with beautiful shapes and planted in beautifully decorated vases or pots, or strange and beautiful plants such as orchids, magnolias, and snow plums to decorate for Tet. The prices of some types of flowers tend to remain stable compared to the previous day. The prices of some popular flowers are as follows: Lilies from 200,000 - 350,000 VND/dozen depending on the type; Gladiolus from 80,000 - 100,000 VND/dozen; large chrysanthemums about 40,000 - 60,000 VND/dozen; roses 50,000 - 70,000 VND/dozen...

Prices of peach blossoms and kumquat trees for Tet are still high compared to last year due to limited supply in some growing areas in the North after the impact of storm No. 3.

For processed food products, prices remained stable compared to the 28th of the lunar calendar because production and processing facilities had prepared goods in advance. Specifically: The price of pork roll is currently commonly from 150,000-170,000 VND/kg, the price of beef roll is about 280,000-300,000 VND/kg, the price of banh chung fluctuates from 50,000-70,000 VND/piece (depending on size and weight).

Alcohol, beer, confectionery, which people have been buying since the previous days, have now decreased in demand again. The prices of alcohol, beer, confectionery continue to be stable compared to the previous day. Specifically, the prices of some popular products are as follows: Hanoi canned beer costs from 270,000-280,000 VND/carton; Saigon Special canned beer costs from 340,000-350,000 VND/carton; Heniken canned beer costs from 450,000-460,000 VND/carton; Cocacola, Pepsi costs from 180,000-190,000 VND/carton; Hanoi Vodka 700ml costs from: 120-130,000 VND/bottle; Hanoi jam costs from 65,000-108,000 VND/box of 200-300 grams; Sunflower seeds price from: 80,000-120,000 VND/kg...

Domestic Market Department Forecasts show that the abundant and diverse supply of goods will help consumers have many choices with different prices depending on their income, especially food and foodstuffs.

Previously, the Ministry of Finance issued a Quick Report on the market price situation for the Lunar New Year of At Ty 2025. According to the report, prices of essential goods increased slightly in traditional markets but remained stable in supermarkets and shopping centers. The supply of goods was abundant, diverse, and had many designs, meeting people's shopping needs.
