Mongolia has just announced a list of countries and territories exempted from visa requirements to enter the country. For Vietnam, the visa exemption will take effect from March 7 for a maximum of 30 days for tourism purposes until the end of 2025.

The temporary visa exemption list also includes countries such as Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Japan...

Two Sisters on the Mongolian Steppe

This is Mongolia’s latest move to attract international tourists. Last year, the country simplified visa procedures for Vietnamese citizens by issuing e-visas for three purposes: tourism, transit, and participation in cultural, artistic, and sports events.

Mongolia is one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world. With a population density of only 2 people/ km2 , this country still maintains a nomadic lifestyle with a tradition of horse riding, archery and many ancient festivals. For the backpacking community, this is an extremely interesting place to experience and explore.

Previously, applying for a self-sufficient Mongolian tourist visa was quite complicated because it required an invitation letter, but then the 3-month single-entry visa did not require an invitation letter. However, with the current visa exemption, exploring the homeland of Genghis Khan has never been easier for Vietnamese tourists.

Currently, Vietjet Air has a direct flight connecting the capital of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, with the coastal city of Nha Trang, Vietnam. The route will be operated from December 15, 2023 with an initial frequency of 2 round-trip flights per week, with a flight time of about 5 hours and 30 minutes per leg, meeting the travel needs of Mongolian people and tourists to Nha Trang, Vietnam and vice versa.

Many Vietnamese travel companies are selling Mongolia tours, such as Viet Travel's tour with destinations such as Ulaanbaatar, Genghis Khan, Gun Galuutai Natural Reserve, Terelj National Park, Hustai National Park, XiangShaWan Desert, Kubuqi Ecological Park, Ordos Steppe, Kangbashi Scenic Area... 4 days 4 nights, 5 days 4 nights and 9 days 9 nights.

Thus, with Mongolia exempting visas for Vietnamese visitors, Vietnamese citizens can now travel to 56 destinations around the world without a visa.
