On the first day back to school after Tet, students of class 4/1 enjoyed decorating piggy banks and were taught about spreading love and calculating reasonable savings.

42 students of class 4/1, Luong Dinh Cua Primary School, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City were very happy when on the first day back to school after Tet At Ty, they received lucky money and a cute piggy bank from their homeroom teacher.

"I was very surprised and happy to receive the piggy bank and plan to save money in it. I received a very cute blue pig. Each student in the class received a piggy bank of different colors and a lucky money of 20,000 VND from the teacher.

I brought the pig home and put it in my study corner and raised it for a long time to do useful work as the teacher told me," Tran Khang - a student in class 4/1 - shared.

Mr. Chau Hien Duc - homeroom teacher of class 4/1, head of the professional group of grade 4, Luong Dinh Cua Primary School, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City - said:

"The teacher gave piggy banks and lucky money to all students in the class to create a different, joyful atmosphere when welcoming primary school students to school at the beginning of the new year of At Ty so that they can have an exciting year, and to carry out a meaningful educational activity called Connecting Love."

Students are happy to receive piggy banks and lucky money from their teachers after Tet.

Teacher Duc combined giving lucky money to students at the beginning of the year with piggy banks to carry out a long-term activity about connecting love, starting from February 3 to the end of May.

After that, with a portion of the money saved from the piggy bank, the students will go with their teachers to the supermarket or market to prepare gifts, wrap them and give them to disadvantaged children; the remaining money saved from the piggy bank will be used for meaningful personal purposes.

"Each student will be given a registration form and parents must sign this form. What makes me very happy is that 100% of parents welcome it, they are willing to participate and sign their children's activity sheet. I have been doing this activity for a long time to educate each student about humanity, sharing, and responsibility.

At the same time, this activity also helps children know how to calculate and spend their money when going to the supermarket to buy gifts according to their calculated quantities. That is, learning math based on their real-life experiences," said Mr. Duc.

Teachers also raise piggy banks as "models" for students.

To encourage students to follow the educational activity "Connecting Love" that he initiated, teacher Chau Hien Duc also gave the nanny and himself a piggy bank.

The time when students start raising piggy banks is also the time when teachers of this class raise piggy banks and will open them together at the end of May, to buy gifts with students for disadvantaged and less fortunate children.

Prepare gifts for students before Tet

To prepare 42 piggy banks as gifts for students at the beginning of the new year, at the end of the year of the Dragon, Mr. Duc ordered piggy banks from a source in Dong Nai.

The accompanying papers such as notice papers, "talking" papers to stick on the piggy bank... were all made by Mr. Duc himself according to his own design. "To prepare gifts for the class, I went to school on the morning of the 4th to make them. By the 6th, I had completed them so I could give them to the students," he said.
