TikTok's fate in the US remains unclear
According to Reuters, speaking to reporters from Air Force One on March 9, President Donald Trump said the US government is working with four different groups on the sale of the Chinese social media platform TikTok. He affirmed that all options are good.
A US law that took effect on January 19th required parent company ByteDance to sell TikTok on national security grounds or the social media platform would be banned in the US. After taking office on January 20th, Mr. Trump signed an executive order delaying the implementation of this law for 75 days.
Asked if a TikTok deal could be reached soon, Trump replied: "Maybe. We're working with four different groups, and there are a lot of people who want to buy it. All four are good."
TikTok and ByteDance did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.
Several potential investors have expressed interest, including Frank McCourt, former owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team.

US government at risk of shutdown
Also on March 9, President Trump acknowledged that the US government was at risk of shutting down if the House of Representatives did not muster enough votes to pass a temporary funding bill. However, he remained optimistic that the measure would be approved.
"(A government shutdown) could happen. It probably shouldn't happen and it probably won't happen. I think the resolution will pass," he said from Air Force One.
Republicans, who control the House, unveiled a six-month temporary spending bill on March 8. A vote on the measure is scheduled for March 11.
Earlier on March 8, Mr. Trump expressed his support for the resolution and called on Republican members to vote in favor.
“Every Republican should vote (Please!) YES next week. Great things are coming to America, and I am asking you to give us a few more months to get through September so we can continue to put the fiscal house of our country in order,” he wrote on social media.
