"When the incident happened, I tried to explain to MC and MC's mother, however, things are going too far. Whether right or wrong, I would like to apologize to both families, especially MC and QU. I hope that both families will stay calm and avoid pushing the matter too far, affecting the psychology of the students, and especially Gia Dinh High School. Currently, I am still waiting for MC and her family to return to the country so that we can meet and discuss more specifically and clearly, " said Mr. T.
The MC's article with the red circled area was said by the MC's family to have been "stolen".
Mr. T. said that he was the one who directly accompanied students in the 2023 Genius Olympiad competition that took place in the US last June.
Accordingly, MC students participated in the qualifying rounds of the Music and Creative Writing categories. QU participated in the creative writing review with MC and with the accompaniment of teacher T, but initially did not participate in the qualifying round.
In the qualifying round, MC passed both the music project and the writing project. However, when looking up the results, due to a login problem, teacher T only saw information that MC passed the music project, so he immediately informed MC's family.
When checking again, Mr. T discovered that the MC also passed the written project despite missing the result. However, according to the regulations of Genius Plympiad, candidates are only allowed to take 1 project in the final round.
"It was my fault for missing the fact that MC also passed the qualifying round for the creative writing category. But MC's strength is music, so when I found out, I asked MC and the organizers to replace MC's article with QU's, also written on the same topic. Both MC and the organizers accepted. That's why MC and QU have the same registration number, 2190," Mr. T shared.
Mr. T. added that both MC and QU's creative writings have the same title " Saigon - Facing the loss of myself" , referring to the issue of Ho Chi Minh City gradually losing urban green areas. Because both MC and QU were accompanied by Mr. T., the topic and title of the writing were suggested by him. However, the content of the writing inside is completely different.
Previously, as VTC News reported, regarding this incident, Ms. TV - QU's mother, said that when the contest ended, her son posted the photo on his personal Facebook, but the MC's family pressured him to remove it.
Affirming that the information on the internet is one-sided, seriously affecting her child's health and spirit, Ms. TV said she has recorded all related articles, messages, comments... to protect her child's honor.
In addition, Ms. H.D - MC's mother said: " Up to this point, when the incident is so big, I feel very sorry for MC and QU. However, if QU's family really has a record and wants to sue, our family is ready to follow."
Responding to VTC News, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Khanh Van, Principal of Gia Dinh High School (Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City) confirmed that she had been aware of the incident since the contest had just ended, on June 17.
Currently, Mr. T.'s health is not good. The school will soon ask for permission from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training to hold a press conference to officially inform about this issue.
" The fact that Mr. T accompanied and guided the students to the exam is a personal matter. The school has reported to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training about the permission for teachers in the school to go abroad and clearly stated that it was for personal reasons and not to represent the school in any exam. The school only acts as a connecting channel between parents, students and Mr. T ," Ms. Van emphasized.
