Due to the impact of opening the third bottom spillway gate of Hoa Binh Hydropower Reservoir at 10:00 p.m. on July 23, it caused damage to fish cage farmers on the Da River in Thach Dong Commune, Thanh Thuy District.
Mr. Mac Ke Nghiep's family in Zone 1, Thach Dong Commune has 30 cages raising grass carp, red tilapia, tilapia and catfish on the Da River. After the Hoa Binh Hydropower Reservoir opened the third bottom spillway on the evening of July 23, 3 cages raising commercial catfish with about 10 tons, each weighing from 1-3kg, and 1 cage of catfish with 10,000 fish died due to the rapid flow of water and mud, causing the fish to be shocked by the water source; the estimated damage was about 1 billion VND.
Immediately after receiving the information, the Thanh Thuy District Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue directed the District Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Thach Dong Commune to inspect, assess and count the extent of damage; at the same time, encouraged and guided Mr. Nghiep's family to promptly collect and dispose of dead fish, clean and ventilate the cage surface to avoid polluting the water environment and minimize damage to the remaining fish cages. Continue to monitor the flood discharge schedule of Hoa Binh Hydropower Reservoir to proactively take measures to prevent and minimize damage caused by natural disasters.
