Reporter: Anyone can become a filmmaker, especially web dramas. What do you think about the Vietnamese film market, especially the web drama industry today?
Actor Hoang Meo: - I am known as an actor, more or less loved by the audience through my roles and now, I participate in the field of film production. And so, not only me, just anyone with the need, ambition, and conditions, they can participate in this job. Each person will rely on their own advantages to make films and the audience will be the judges to choose the films they love the most. No matter how the market fluctuates, the best quality films will be the ones that are mentioned and loved. So, there is no need to make any comments, the fact that we are good at our jobs.
What are your advantages to survive in the Vietnamese film market?
- It is kindness in every stage of film production. I don't think about doing great things or doing something really different and huge. What I have to do is be kind in every moment to create a quality product, something to watch. I believe that I am meticulous and have a kind attitude towards my work.

What do you say about the success or failure of a movie?
- That's right because audience reviews make the revenue and reputation of the film. But audience opinions are subjective judgments of each individual. It's normal for one person to like it and another to hate it. Therefore, not only in Vietnam but also in the world, there are successful films that surprise the public because they are too stupid, but there are also films with large investments, films that cannot be criticized in terms of content but are still obscure in the eyes of the audience. The right time, right place, and right people seem to be the factors that influence the success or failure of a film.
So are you afraid that your film this time will fall into a bad situation?
- I am a special film that does not look at revenue figures. Moreover, making films nowadays cannot make a profit. But I still do it to prove that I and many other filmmakers are very passionate and concerned about the quality of Vietnamese films. I do not dare to boast or talk big about a bright future with my contribution. But I believe that if one creates good things, it needs the cooperation of many people and I will definitely join that team.
It seems that Hoang Meo's ambition is not small?
- I want to take steps to fulfill my dream of making movies. I learn every day with practical experiences on set for nearly 2 decades. I believe I can do it when I have a film production crew of talented people.
But Vietnamese movies nowadays, even though they are big box office hits, are they still boringly dramatic?
- That is an undeniable fact. My films are also difficult to avoid because there are times when we have to use language to explain situations where all descriptions are powerless. However, I believe that when I identify the weakness here, I will also find a way to overcome it.
Vietnamese audiences watch movies by looking at the actors' names, but in your movies the actors are unfamiliar. Are you afraid that will become the film's weakness?
- No words are stronger than actions. The audience will have their own answer when watching the film made by Hoang Meo. All the actors in the film have been in the profession for a decade, although they are young, they are all conscious of honing their acting skills. Some actors even went to Korea to learn the profession. More important is their kindness towards the profession. The audience should watch and then comment, it is not too late.
"Miss and the Three Gangsters" tells the story of Hai Phuc (Hoang Meo), Ba Bun (Quach Ngoc Tuyen) and Tu Ngao (Tan Tre) - three notorious gangsters who have washed their hands of the sword to raise Tieu Thu - the daughter of their dead boss. That simple life would have continued if Hai Phuc had not discovered that he had a brain tumor and Tieu Thu had not blackmailed a powerful figure to get money to treat her father. All the incidents and twists and turns arose from here. It was thought that the father-daughter relationship would be strong after the storm, but no, everything was just the beginning of the "creepy" secrets of the past and an unpredictable future.
