Violence erupted at the Clark County Courthouse on Wednesday (January 3) after Judge Mary Kay Holthus denied probation to Redden, 30, in an aggravated assault case and was preparing to sentence him to prison.

Before the attack, Redden asked the court for leniency, saying he did not deserve to go to prison.
Video shows Redden jumping straight over the judge's bench as she tries to get away. Two men and a uniformed court officer tackle Redden, who then yells obscenities before being dragged away.
Holthus looked dazed as she emerged from behind the bench. A court spokesperson told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that she was injured and was being monitored.
The courthouse sheriff was hospitalized after suffering injuries that were not life-threatening, the Review-Journal reported. Court officials and attorneys involved in the case did not respond to requests for comment.
Redden was booked into the Clark County Jail on Thursday. He appeared in court on Wednesday for sentencing in a previous case. Online court records show Redden was in jail after being convicted of attempted burglary in 2019 and then in 2021 for domestic battery.
