As a mountainous district of Thai Nguyen province, Dai Tu district not only reached the new rural finish line 1 year ahead of schedule, but also actively cared for the lives of the poor, especially implementing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.
The joy of housing support
The family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan, Tan Tien hamlet, Phu Lac commune, is one of the households that benefited from the program. Previously, Ms. Lan lived in a temporary house with an old corrugated iron roof. Every time it rained, water seeped into the house, making life difficult for the family. Thanks to the support of the local government, her family now has a new, solid and clean house.
Ms. Lan shared: “Before, we had to live in a temporary house, and every time it rained heavily, we were worried. Now, with the government’s support to build a new house, I feel very secure and happy. Thank you to the leaders at all levels for helping us have a real home.”
Mr. Luu Sy Cuong, Hamlet Duoi 2, Van Yen Commune is a family that just completed building a new house at the end of 2024. For him, living in a new, spacious house is like a dream come true.
Mr. Cuong confided: “For many years, my house has been damaged and degraded, affecting the daily life of the whole family. With the support of the government to build a new house, my family has built a solid house, no longer worrying about leaks during heavy rains. Now we can only focus on working and developing the economy to improve our lives.”
Building Dai Tu into a comprehensively developed locality
According to the report of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dai Tu district, in 2024, there were still 145 households living in temporary and dilapidated houses in the district. By the end of 2024, construction of 143 houses had begun, of which 84 households needed to build new houses and 61 households needed to repair. By February 26, 2025, the last household to complete the construction of a new house was Mr. Le Xuan Duong, Duc Luong commune.
Ms. Hoang Thi Bach Yen, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dai Tu district informed: During the implementation process, the district also encountered some difficulties such as: the number of families living in temporary houses, dilapidated houses scattered; some cases need support but legal documents on land use rights are not complete, there is no consensus within the family...
The Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the district has advised the Party Committee and the government to organize meetings with the leaders of the District Party Committee and specialized departments, Party Committees and local authorities to discuss and agree on appropriate solutions.
According to the leader of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Dai Tu district has completed the target of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses 3 months earlier than the target assigned by Thai Nguyen province and 8 months earlier than the target launched by the Prime Minister. In addition to 3 cities (Thai Nguyen, Song Cong, Pho Yen), Dai Tu is the first district out of 6 districts in Thai Nguyen province to complete the program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses.
According to Mr. Nguyen Nam Tien, Chairman of Dai Tu District People's Committee: "The completion of the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses affirms the efforts of Dai Tu District authorities in caring for and looking after people's lives. The district continues to seek solutions and create long-term economic development opportunities for the people. The goal is to build Dai Tu into a comprehensively developed locality, where people not only have decent housing but also have the opportunity to get rich legitimately."
"The program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Dai Tu district is one of the outstanding successes in improving people's lives. Through that, the local government has affirmed its important role in caring for people's lives, promoting sustainable development and improving the quality of life for all people," Mr. Tien added.
