"Kaito Kid" is a super thief character in the famous comic series "Detective Conan". On social networks, this is an account that specializes in predicting the works that will appear in literary essay questions. After continuously "predicting" the high school graduation exam questions for the past 3 years and getting caught up in the question leak scandal in July 2022, the Kaito Kid account now has a "huge" number of followers of 1.1 million people.
Recently, the Kaito Kid account posted an announcement that it was said to continue "guessing the questions" on the evening of June 27, one day before the 2023 high school graduation literature exam. This information immediately "caused a storm", attracting tens of thousands of interactions a few hours later. Under the post, many candidates expressed their support, even admitting that they only started studying for the literature exam when they knew what the predicted questions were.
Will review for the exam according to 50-70%?
Receiving news about the upcoming "guessing the questions" session of "Kaito Kid", Tran Ngoc Anh, class 12A4, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School (HCMC), confided that not only her but also most of her friends around her are very "excited".
"I will review 50-70% based on the predicted results this time, partly because I want to verify the rumored 'magic' for myself, and partly because I don't put too much emphasis on my high school graduation literature score because I was admitted early through the transcript review method," the female student said.
However, according to Ngoc Anh, candidates who use literature scores for university admission should not trust too much in predicted works to avoid unfortunate incidents and miss the "door" to the desired school.
"These days, I often go on YouTube to watch videos summarizing literary works, and at the same time review basic knowledge and pay attention so as not to lose points in the reading comprehension section," Ngoc Anh added.
Similarly, Truong Tran Mai Anh, class 12A14, Tran Khai Nguyen High School (HCMC), also acknowledged that "guessing questions" in general, and the "Kaito Kid" phenomenon in particular, both create excitement and anticipation for students born in 2005 during their final review days.
"Most of you want to find the last 'luck' to add motivation and confidence before the exam day. I myself also listen to the 'universe's advice' by using the wheel of fortune and drawing lots to choose the key work," the female student applying for admission with the D01 combination explained.
With her aspirations to enter the University of Economics in Ho Chi Minh City, Mai Anh said she is reviewing each content carefully and firmly. Accordingly, in the reading comprehension section, the female student learns related knowledge and memorizes the outline to answer the questions. For the social argumentation question, Mai Anh focuses on updating real-life evidence. As for the literary argumentation section, the female student does not "study by rote" but has a firm grasp of information about the author, the work, and learns some sample introductions and conclusions.
Be careful of psychological effects
Ms. NHH, a literature teacher at Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School (HCMC), affirmed that the phenomenon of "guessing literature questions" on social networks seems to be an annual "tradition" every high school graduation exam season. "Although it is only a personal activity of a few users, this will create public opinion and discussion, which can negatively affect candidates," Ms. H. acknowledged.
According to the female teacher, the most serious consequence of "guessing the questions" is that it will make candidates confused or "cram" and risk being "overwhelmed". "This has a significant impact on students' psychology, affecting not only their literature test results but also their subsequent exams. Therefore, guessing the questions or guessing the questions that will appear in important exams such as high school graduation is not advisable", Ms. H. stated her opinion.
Literature teachers at Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School also noted that the closer the exam date is, the more candidates should maintain their health and mental stability. Reviewing should also be focused and solid in knowledge, especially how to write a social argumentative paragraph and how to write a literary argumentative essay that teachers have instructed in class.
"In addition, candidates should also limit surfing social networks, do not let rumors about the literature exam affect your spirit and distract you from your goals. You should spend a certain amount of time to rest, relax, listen to music, or play your favorite sport. Having a comfortable spirit will help you confidently enter this exam," Ms. H. advised.
