On the afternoon of December 20, Dak Lak Department of Information and Communications solemnly held the 20th Anniversary Ceremony (December 28, 2004 - December 28, 2024).

On December 28, 2004, Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 2515/QD-UBND to establish the Department of Posts and Telecommunications. On March 25, 2008, the Department officially changed its name to the Department of Information and Communications.

Over 20 years of establishment and development, the Department of Information and Communications has continuously developed, successfully completed assigned tasks, and actively contributed to the socio-economic development of the province. State management of press, publishing, printing, distribution, grassroots information, and foreign information continues to be strengthened, promptly propagating the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and policies, creating social consensus. The Department has closely followed the directives of the Government, the Prime Minister, and the National Committee on Digital Transformation and proactively advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue many directives and promptly deploy important tasks...

The work of ensuring information safety and security, maintaining national sovereignty in cyberspace has been effectively implemented. The Department has proactively coordinated with relevant agencies and units to ensure information safety and security for network information systems and shared systems in the province.

State management of post and telecommunications, internet, broadcasting and radio frequencies has been well implemented and achieved many outstanding results. Currently, there are 14 postal and delivery enterprises operating in the province, with an average revenue growth of about 12% per year, creating jobs for nearly 3,000 workers. 5G mobile information services have been commercially provided in Buon Ma Thuot city; the rate of smartphone users reached 82.8%, the rate of fixed broadband internet subscribers per 100 people reached 22.86 subscribers...

With the achieved results, the Department of Information and Communications has been honored to receive many noble awards from the Party, the State, and from sectors and levels.

In addition to the achieved results, state management and the development of the Information and Communications sector still face many difficulties and challenges such as: The institutional and policy systems are not yet synchronized; the human resources of the Department and the sector, especially the information technology human resources at agencies and enterprises in the province, are still lacking and weak. Digital technology and digital space open up great opportunities and potentials but also present many challenges and potential risks, challenges in information management, bad and toxic information on social networking platforms....

In the coming time, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tuan Ha requested the Information and Communications sector to continue to promote its tradition to build a united, disciplined, clean and strong collective; promote emulation to achieve achievements in the next stage; continue to play a pioneering role in digital transformation in the province; promote the development of postal and telecommunications infrastructure to become an important essential infrastructure, a basic infrastructure for socio-economic development. The Information and Communications sector coordinates with enterprises to mobilize resources, urgently upgrade synchronous infrastructure, develop database application platforms to ensure readiness for all activities of Party agencies, authorities, socio-political organizations and communities in the province.
