Currently, many universities have announced the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday schedule. Among them, many schools will give students a month-long break, even up to 58 days.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has approved the Lunar New Year holiday schedule of 9 days, including 5 Tet holidays and 4 weekly days off, from January 25 to February 2, 2025, or from December 26 to January 5.

Most universities give students a longer Tet holiday. Depending on the teaching schedule, each university has a different number of Tet holidays, some schools give students less than 10 days off but others give students nearly 2 months off.

Recently, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry announced online teaching before and after the Lunar New Year 2025.

Specifically, students studying at the main campus of the school will study online 1 week before Tet (from January 13 to January 19, 2025) and 1 week after Tet (February 10 to February 16, 2025). They will officially have Tet holiday from January 20, 2025 (December 21) to February 9, 2025 (January 18).

Meanwhile, students studying at the campus on Nguyen Van Dung Street (Go Vap District) will study online for up to 5 weeks, starting from December 23 to February 16, 2025. Thus, from this weekend, students at this campus can go home for Tet.

With this change in teaching plan, the time for Tet holiday of students at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry is at least 36 days and the longest is up to 58 days (including Saturday and Sunday), which is nearly 2 months.

Up to this point, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry is the university that allows students to return home for the longest Lunar New Year 2025.

In addition, some universities also have a Tet holiday schedule that lasts longer than 1 month. For example, Lac Hong University (Dong Nai) allows second-year students and earlier to have 45 days off, from December 28 to February 10, 2025. First-year students have one week less off, starting from January 4.

According to the school representative, most of the students are from the Northern, Central and Central Highlands provinces. The long Tet holiday helps them have more time with their families, avoid peak travel times and reduce costs for trains, buses and planes.

According to the announcement of the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications, students of the 2020 Engineering course will have Tet holiday after reporting their Graduation Project (expected at the end of December 2024). Thus, the school's students will have more than 40 days off for Tet.

For classes 2021, 2022, 2023, students will be off from January 11 to February 3, 2025 (3 weeks). In particular, students of class 2024 will be off from January 18 to February 3, 2025 (2 weeks).

According to the school leaders, the above Tet holiday schedule is to help students, staff, lecturers, employees, and workers have time to rest and restore their working capacity; avoid peak days before Tet with expensive travel costs and traffic overload, especially for those who are far from home.

According to the study plan, based on the actual schedule of each class, Foreign Trade University plans to give students and lecturers about 3 weeks off for Tet At Ty 2025.

Many universities give students 14 days off: Hanoi Pedagogical University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Hanoi University of Industry, University of Commerce, Thang Long University, University of Industrial Fine Arts, some schools under Hanoi National University such as: University of Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Natural Sciences, University of Economics...

According to schools, the reason why they let students have a long Tet holiday is because they have the initiative to plan their training and the school year schedule. Tet usually coincides with the end of the first semester, so the holiday schedule does not affect students' studies.
