The above information was announced by Mr. Pham Quang Hoi - Director of the Center for Consulting and Supporting Agricultural Economic Restructuring, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ho Chi Minh City, at a press conference providing information on socio-economic issues and epidemic prevention.
According to Mr. Hoi, "OCOP Products and Regional Specialty Products Week 2023" is being held for the first time. The event attracts the participation of businesses, cooperatives, farms, and gardeners operating in the field of production and trading of OCOP products and specialty products in Ho Chi Minh City and 38 provinces and cities in the Central Highlands, Mekong Delta, Southeast, North and North Central regions, and Central Coast.

The week had 439 enterprises, with nearly 1,200 products participating, of which 756 OCOP products achieved 3-5 stars. Of which, Ho Chi Minh City had 20 enterprises, OCOP subjects with 80 products participating, of which 59 OCOP products achieved 3-4 stars.
According to the Organizing Committee, the week is an opportunity and condition for farmers' OCOP products to reach further, helping units and businesses effectively connect OCOP products and regional specialties to trade promotion channels in the Ho Chi Minh City and international markets. Thereby, enhancing the value of product brands, accelerating the process of building new rural areas and helping people expand production scale, increase product added value, improve material and spiritual life, especially poor farmers from all regions of the country.
Along with that, within the framework of the week, there are also cooperation activities to transfer scientific and technological advances in agriculture and rural development; creating conditions for enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities to learn about and invest in high-tech agricultural projects, associated with deep processing of specific agricultural products of 38 provinces and cities. Thereby, affirming the role of Ho Chi Minh City as an effective bridge, an important trade promotion channel in the agricultural sector of regions across the country.
After 5 years of implementing the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program, the country has 10,322 OCOP products with 3 stars or more from 5,361 entities; of which, there are 51 5-star products. According to the assessment of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the value of OCOP products after being recognized has increased, helping entities increase production scale and revenue. Specifically, more than 60% of OCOP entities have an average revenue increase of about 17%/year, the selling price of OCOP products increases by an average of 12%. In particular, 5-star products increase revenue by 20-30%. Many OCOP products are selected by leaders of the Party, State and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as gifts for heads of state and international guests. Many OCOP products are exported on the spot through international tourists. |
