By the end of 2024, Can Tho City has 198 OCOP products with 3-4 stars, of which 95 are 3-star products and 103 are 4-star products (including 2 potential 5-star products that have been submitted by the City People's Committee to the National OCOP Product Rating Council, 15 products have been re-recognized and 16 expired products are completing re-recognition documents). The city's OCOP products are favored by consumers inside and outside the city, because of their quality, flavor and price that suit the taste and budget of consumers.
Currently, the distribution channels for OCOP products in Can Tho City are very diverse. Consumers can find them in supermarkets, convenience stores, shopping malls, traditional markets or at stores specializing in selling OCOP products. In particular, with a favorable geographical location and bustling trading activities, Can Tho City is a convergence of many OCOP products from localities in the region.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Han, a sales staff at the Mekong Delta Specialty Store, said: "Our store introduces and sells about 300 products, of which 200 are OCOP certified products from all localities in the region. For example, ST fragrant rice from Soc Trang; deeply processed products from Cau Ke wax coconut, Tra Vinh province; Ky Nhu sliced catfish from Hau Giang province; Ba Giao Khoe fish sauce from An Giang province... Can Tho City alone has many products such as Kim Nhien soursop tea (Kim Nhien Agricultural Products Processing Company Limited); 5-bean tea, green-heart black bean tea, brown rice tea, black sesame brown rice powder - green-heart black beans, green bean powder (Thuan Hoa Facility); sun-dried tra fish, sun-dried snakehead fish, dried tra fish fillets, dried snakehead fish fillets, dried striped snakehead fish (Minh Duc Thanh Company Limited); Long Giang soursop tea (SUMOFOOD Company Limited)...".
Mr. Ly Tien Nghia, representative of Thuan Hoa Facility, shared: "We have 5 OCOP certified products: 5-bean tea, green-heart black bean tea, red bean brown rice tea, black sesame brown rice powder - green-heart black bean, green bean powder. To meet the increasing demands from the market, our facility has invested in HACCP certification, registered exclusive trademarks, and participated in the city's product traceability management system. In addition to traditional sales channels as well as actively participating in trade promotion activities inside and outside the city, we also promote sales on e-commerce platforms Shopee, Lazada, Mekongexpo...".
The foundation of OCOP products is local specialties of households, cooperatives... Through the process of construction and development, OCOP products have been upgraded through being granted food safety certificates, attaching traceability stamps, collective trademarks, certification trademarks and creating their own mark on the market. I feel secure using products with the OCOP logo. During the recent Tet holiday, I also chose OCOP products (dried products, dried shrimp, tea, etc.) as gifts for relatives, friends, and neighbors".
At the Mekong Delta Specialty Store, the selling price of OCOP products such as Co Moi salted crab is 95,000 VND/500gr jar, ST 25 rice is 159,000 VND/5kg bag, Ky Nhu sliced catfish crackers are 90,000 VND/200gr box, Ba Giao Khoe linh fish sauce is 68,000 VND/400gr jar, Kim Nhien soursop tea is 160,000 VND/250gr package, Thuan Hoa brown rice and red bean powder is 35,000 VND/200gr package...
Currently, OCOP products are gradually becoming a daily consumption habit of many people. However, in order for the program to continue to spread and develop, the State needs a strong enough product development support mechanism, helping entities apply science and technology to processing, deep processing; building and developing brands to improve the quality and perfect OCOP products.
