Vietnamese films lead box office, surpassing American and Korean films
Currently, Vietnamese cinemas are showing more than 15 films of all kinds from many countries and territories: Dungeons & Dragons (adventure, fantasy, USA), The Pope's Exorcist (horror, USA), The First Slam Dunk (Japanese animation), Marry My Dead Body (comedy, mystery, Taiwan), Ghost Station (horror, Korea); Super Mario Brothers, Super Naughty Cat at the Museum (American animation)... Vietnamese films participating in the screening at this time are only 2 films, which are Lat mat 6: Tat ve dinh menh (director Ly Hai) and Con Nhót mot chong (director Vu Ngoc Dang), but they have continuously led the box office with daily revenue more than 20 times higher than foreign film revenue (like Lat mat 6: Tat ve dinh menh, which was shown from 7 p.m. on April 26, but daily revenue reached more than 8 billion VND, while the foreign film leading the box office on April 26, Danh hon cua ke thiep, only reached 443 million VND).
Thai Hoa, Thu Trang and Tien Luat in the movie Con Nhot Mot Chong
Not only that, Lat mat 6: The fateful ticket also broke through and reached the milestone of 128,000 pre-booked tickets before the film was released, bringing the total revenue in the first 6 hours of this film's release on April 26 to more than 12 billion VND. By the end of April 27 (also only shown from 7 p.m.), Ly Hai's action, psychological, thriller film had earned a total of 25 billion VND. It is predicted that when the film is shown all day from April 28, Lat mat 6: The fateful ticket will increase in revenue even more when in fact each day the film has sold more than ten billion VND in tickets.
Following closely behind Lat mat 6: The fateful ticket is the comedy, family drama Con Nhót mot chong produced by Thu Trang - Tien Luat when the film is currently earning more than 26 billion VND (shown 3 days before Ly Hai's film and each day this film earns about 6 billion VND).
Many moviegoers at the cinema at this time were extremely surprised to say that they had to queue and the last Vietnamese movie of the day at 11pm in Ho Chi Minh City (the movie Lat mat 6: The fateful ticket) was also packed like a "festival". The balance of tickets sold at the Vietnamese box office is currently leaning towards domestic movies, all foreign movies showing in theaters right before the April 30 - May 1 holiday season this year were "defeated" by the "competition" of the movie Ly Hai - Thu Trang.

Has the quality of Vietnamese movies improved or is it just "luck"?
It can be said that Lat mat 6: Tac ve dinh menh and Con Nhót mot chong are two summer blockbusters of the domestic film market, although in terms of overall investment budget, Con Nhót mot chong is less.
The appearance of Thai Hoa - Thu Trang and People's Artist Hong Van, Tien Luat helped Con Nhót mot chong become an "explosion" in terms of emotions in acting, but in terms of script, there are still many limitations with a simple story, predictable ending, not enough weight. Thai Hoa was praised for successfully portraying the image of an old single father who is drunk all day, but still has a humorous, lovely look when sober. Thai Hoa's Mr. Xin has many hidden feelings when he holds the pain of not being able to give his children a complete family, and Thai Hoa's expressions in the film when scolding his children or silently watching his daughter suffer from early menopause also make the audience feel the love of a father...
Thu Trang shows her versatility with a character with a tragic fate, cunning, rebellious but always loving her father, longing for happiness when "wooing" her neighbor, and also very weak when knowing that she is sick and has difficulty having children. Director Vu Ngoc Dang still brings to the work meticulousness in the way of setting camera angles, arranging frames, emotional details..., but to be fair, Con Nhót nhớt chồng still creates the feeling of "the film is only half cinema, half web-drama". If the film is a big success in terms of revenue, it will certainly be thanks to the excellent performance of "one-time box office king" Thai Hoa and the charm, investment in research, understanding of the character, plus the current appeal of Thu Trang's name.
Meanwhile, Lat mat 6: The fateful ticket is a movie without stars with the cast: Quoc Cuong, Thanh Thuc, Huy Khanh, Trung Dung, Diep Bao Ngoc, Tiet Cuong, and completely new faces: Tran Kim Hai, Huynh Thi, Tu Tri, Quynh Nhu..., but director Ly Hai himself is a name that has great appeal to the audience through the Lat mat series that was successful in revenue before.
The movie Lat mat 6: The fateful ticket tells the story of a group of long-time close friends who suddenly have a chance to change their lives when they buy a lottery ticket that wins the jackpot of 136.8 billion VND. But An, the ticket holder, suddenly has an accident and passes away. The lottery ticket follows him to the grave. Faced with the dream money, the group of friends embark on a journey to find the lottery ticket and then countless terrible, unexpected events occur. It must be said that this is the movie with the best script, many profound messages about people, friendship, family; and the staging, rhythm, and acting are also impressive, the most cinematic of the 6 parts of Lat mat by Ly Hai. The film creates a captivating and unpredictable feeling for viewers for more than 2/3 of its duration, however, with an ending that is too… gentle like Ly Hai's personality, it makes the film less edgy, fierce and daring, which should have been recognized as an excellent director with Lat mat 6: Tat ve dinh menh. Also, if Ly Hai did not choose a benevolent and humane ending, Lat mat 6: Tat ve dinh menh might have been "labeled" as a film that "blackens" the character of people in the West... Therefore, what Lat mat 6: Tat ve dinh menh conveys on the screen has proven Ly Hai's increasingly progressive skills and true talent, a great success in the field of cinema.
Obviously, the release time of the two Vietnamese films is very favorable as it falls on the occasion of the April 30 - May 1 holiday, which is the time when people across the country have a long holiday. Therefore, the number of audiences going to the cinema will certainly be even larger, and the revenue potential of Vietnamese films will therefore increase very high in the coming days.
