The event focused on raising awareness about energy saving, environmental protection and promoting the use of clean energy in Vietnam through a variety of visual activities such as a creative “check-in” space, a display of a model of a balcony in an old house in Hanoi, and the application of a solar power system. The model conveyed a strong message about the possibility of applying renewable energy in urban life, encouraging people to install solar panels right on their balconies to take advantage of clean electricity.
Another highlight is the flashmob performance “Green Movement” by a large number of students from universities in Hanoi, especially those specializing in engineering and energy. In addition, many other special art performances will also be performed, continuing to inspire and raise awareness of responsibility for the living environment. In addition, the experience of cycling to generate electricity helps participants directly try and better understand how to create clean energy.
The Electricity Industry has also actively responded to this campaign. Typically, EVNHANOI reported that it has proactively implemented plans to ensure safe electricity supply, while strengthening propaganda and education for the community, especially students, on economical electricity use and fire and explosion prevention. Households are encouraged to choose to use electrical equipment labeled as energy-saving according to the instructions of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, regularly clean and maintain equipment and unplug equipment when not in use, reducing 5-10% of electricity consumption. Enterprises are recommended to arrange reasonable production plans, avoid operating high-capacity equipment during peak hours, invest in energy monitoring systems and upgrade high-efficiency equipment, and raise awareness of economical electricity use for workers...
Connecting Nationwide for a Sustainable Future
Earth Hour is an annual international event initiated by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), calling on the community to turn off unnecessary electrical appliances for one hour from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on March 22, 2025. Earth Hour 2025 is a special occasion for the community nationwide to take action for the environment and a sustainable future. This is not only a campaign to raise awareness but also a bridge connecting the community towards a green lifestyle and efficient use of energy. This year, the event continues to receive strong responses from localities with many diverse activities.
In Ho Chi Minh City, the government and people participated in the event of turning off the lights at the same time as the whole country, along with communication and community interaction activities such as the "All people save energy" race, the TV program "Students join hands to use electricity safely and economically" and the establishment of electricity saving propaganda teams. These activities aim to promote public awareness of energy saving, reduce environmental pollution and join hands to achieve climate change response goals, towards the goal of Net Zero by 2050.
In Binh Duong, in recent days, the Provincial Youth Union has coordinated with Binh Duong Electricity Company to organize a cycling parade to promote energy saving, environmental protection and climate change response. Through the activities, Binh Duong Provincial Youth Union also emphasized the message "Green transition - Green future" as a call for everyone to join hands to build a new lifestyle, prioritize the use of renewable energy, reduce plastic waste and protect water resources. This cycling activity not only helps improve public health but also contributes to reducing air pollution and sustainable urban development. In addition, many other meaningful response activities were also organized such as the "25 seconds to turn off the engine" program to reduce emissions, distribute leaflets, hang propaganda banners, flashmob and English speaking competitions on environmental protection, as well as a community running race.
Every small action from the community today will create a big impact in the future. Therefore, Earth Hour is not just about turning off the lights for an hour, but also the beginning of a long-term journey towards changing living habits, building a green and sustainable future for future generations.
