On the afternoon of February 13 (the 4th day of Tet), according to information from Bac Giang Provincial Police, Viet Yen Town Police temporarily detained "drunkard" Do Van Them for injuring a traffic police lieutenant while on duty.

Specifically, on February 12 (the 3rd day of Tet), on provincial road 295B in Nenh residential group (Nenh ward, Viet Yen town), the working group of the Traffic Police Team of Viet Yen town police led by Major Do Xuan Hoang Ha, patrolled, controlled and handled people driving cars and motorbikes violating alcohol concentration, not wearing helmets... according to plan.

At around 8:05 p.m. the same day, the task force discovered Do Van Them (born in 1995, residing in Sen Ho residential group, Nenh ward) riding a motorbike with license plate 98B2-006.54 without wearing a helmet. At this time, Them was traveling from Bac Giang to Bac Ninh.

When seeing the working group, Them turned the car around and went in the opposite direction. Senior Lieutenant Than Minh Duc, a traffic police officer and member of the working group, signaled the car to stop for inspection, but Them did not comply. This person continued to accelerate and hit Senior Lieutenant Duc, causing him to fall onto the road, injuring his legs and arms.

Immediately afterwards, the task force chased and controlled Do Van Them and took Senior Lieutenant Than Minh Duc to the hospital for treatment.

The working group tested Them's alcohol concentration, and the result was that Them violated the level of 0.086 mg/l of breath. At the time of the test, Them could not present his driver's license and vehicle registration.

The working group drew up a report against Do Van Them for not wearing a helmet when riding a motorbike or scooter; not obeying the orders of a traffic controller; driving a vehicle on the road with a breath alcohol concentration; driving a vehicle without a vehicle registration as prescribed; and not having a driver's license.

Considering that Do Van Them's behavior showed signs of the crime of "Resisting a person on official duty", the working group handed over the person, vehicle and all files and documents to the Investigation Police Agency of Viet Yen Town Police for handling according to regulations.

The Investigation Police Agency of Viet Yen town is detaining Do Van Them for further investigation and clarification.
