Fun and happy
Receiving an invitation from Michelin Guide, however, a representative of Pho Hoa Pasteur restaurant (District 3) said that the restaurant could not arrange to attend the event in Hanoi.
Pho Hoa representative said the restaurant is honored to receive recognition from Michelin Guide.
“The Bib Gourmand award is a great recognition of the efforts of all members of our family to develop Pho Hoa restaurant over the past decades. We are constantly striving to change and improve the quality of service to serve customers better,” said Ms. Tram (47 years old, restaurant representative).
Ms. Nguyen Thi Xiem (77 years old this year, owner of Pho Hoa) has handed over the business to her children and grandchildren because of her advanced age. Up to now, the business has been passed down through 3 generations. Talking about the name Pho Hoa, Ms. Xiem once shared that nearly 60 years ago, Pasteur Street was called “Pho Street” because there were more than a dozen pho carts selling on the road, which was about ten kilometers long.

The restaurant said it will continue to make efforts to respond to the love of customers over the past half century.
Back then, every afternoon, she, her mother and stepfather would push the pho cart out onto the street and move in at 12 midnight. The name Pho Hoa was named after a man named Hoa who sold pho on the street, with a dilapidated cart. Every day, Mr. Hoa would push the cart and walk nearly 20 kilometers from Xom Moi Market (Go Vap District) to Pasteur Street to sell.
“It was also fate that he left the pho stall to my family, and did not hesitate to pass on many cooking secrets. My mother and stepfather were also diligent learners and seekers, so when they took over the pho stall, they also received satisfaction from customers. Because we wanted to repay Mr. Hoa's kindness, my family did not change the name of the restaurant but kept the name Pho Hoa from that day until now," Ms. Xiem shared.
Ky Dong chicken vermicelli also received the Bib Gourmand restaurant award.
Mr. Nguyen Van Duc (47 years old) - representative of Ky Dong chicken noodle restaurant (District 3) also said that the restaurant is happy and honored to receive the Bib Gourmand restaurant award. This is also a great motivation for the brothers and sisters in the family and the staff in this restaurant that is more than half a century old.
