Promoting youth in establishing a career

In recent times, activities to accompany young people in starting and establishing businesses have been widely implemented by the provincial Youth Union at all levels and have brought about practical results. From this movement, many union members and young people have promoted their youthfulness, dynamism and creativity in production to start businesses and strive to become rich legitimately in their homeland.

Having worked many jobs to earn a living but with an unstable income, in 2018, Mr. Do Sy Tri, in Luong Tai Xa village, Trieu Dai commune, Trieu Phong district, decided to return to his hometown to develop a model of growing gray oyster mushrooms. At the beginning of the model, like many other young people who had just "entered" the profession, Mr. Tri encountered many obstacles.

But refusing to "surrender", with the companionship and support of the Youth Union of Trieu Dai commune, and his own determination, every day Mr. Tri went online to learn, researched in books and then traveled everywhere to learn practical experience about mushroom growing models.

“I learned mushroom growing techniques at Cam Lo Mushroom Research and Development Station; at the same time, I was supported with funding to build a mushroom house and mushroom spawn prices. I boldly bought 1,000 gray oyster mushroom spawns to grow in my family's 35 m2 shed and was quite successful when the mushrooms grew well and the output was also stable.

Realizing the economic efficiency of the model, I boldly borrowed capital from the Social Policy Bank of Trieu Phong district in the amount of over 100 million VND to expand the mushroom growing area, install an automatic irrigation system and buy more mushroom spawn to develop the production model.

To save time and effort, Mr. Tri also researched and applied science and technology into practice by installing an automatic misting system, setting the timer and conditions using his smartphone to conveniently monitor and care for the mushrooms. Thanks to that, the gray oyster mushrooms are harvested continuously for about 4 months with an average selling price of about 40,000 VND/kg. On average, each year, after deducting expenses, Mr. Tri has a profit of nearly 100 million VND, thanks to which his family's life is less difficult, no longer dependent on monoculture rice as before.

As for Mr. Nguyen Manh Tu, in Kim Giao village, Hai Duong commune, Hai Lang district, in 2022, through the Hai Duong commune Youth Union, Mr. Tu was able to access preferential loans from the Hai Lang district Social Policy Bank with an amount of 100 million VND to start a business with a vermicelli model. Always putting product quality first, Mr. Tu's vermicelli products were favored by people as soon as they appeared on the market.

At first, he did not set economic goals but mainly created a brand and market, while working and accumulating experience. After more than 3 years of production, the name "Tu bun" is now known not only to Kim Giao people but also to restaurants and eateries in neighboring villages and communes.

Mr. Tu excitedly shared: “After deducting expenses, each month the vermicelli production facility brings me a profit of about 15 million VND. This is a relatively stable source of income for my family in addition to farming. I hope that in the future I will have access to more preferential credit sources to expand production scale, invest in more machinery and build a brand for vermicelli products.”

In recent times, activities to accompany young people in starting and establishing businesses have always been focused on by the Youth Union at all levels. Accordingly, in 2024 alone, the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee coordinated with the Provincial Social Policy Bank to support preferential loans for 250 models and projects of young people starting and establishing businesses with an amount of 24 billion VND, raising the total outstanding loan balance of the Social Policy Bank through the Youth Union organization as of December 31, 2024 to 686,532 billion VND, with outstanding loan growth reaching 19.7%.

Up to now, the province has 86 economic development clubs, 510 youth economic models with an income of over 100 million VND/year. On the other hand, the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee and the Provincial Youth Union Secretariat have organized a Talkshow "Career and employment opportunities for young people" online on the Zoom application and broadcast live on the fanpage "Quang Tri Provincial Youth Union". Organized a program to promote and connect the consumption of youth start-up products and OCOP products on the digital platform tiktok with the participation of guest KOL - Runner-up Hoang Kim Chi - Miss Earth Vietnam 2023...

Also in 2024, the Youth Union at all levels organized 150 career guidance activities, 52 consulting activities, and job introduction for nearly 12,300 young union members and demobilized soldiers, of which new jobs were introduced to over 5,600 young union members; continued to effectively operate the Quang Tri province youth startup network with more than 2,000 young people participating; at the same time, directed school unions and junior high school teams in the province to establish and effectively maintain 123 career guidance and startup clubs for students.

The path to entrepreneurship for young people has never been easy. However, with enthusiasm and creativity, Quang Tri youth are not afraid of hardships and are determined to find their own path. Above all, they always receive the support and companionship of the Youth Union. This is an important stepping stone to help each young person become more confident, constantly explore and learn to become more and more stable and successful on the path of entrepreneurship and career establishment, thereby contributing more youth to build an increasingly prosperous homeland.
