(Dan Tri) - GSM plans to launch an electric taxi service in Laos this year with a fleet size of up to 1,000 VF 5 Plus and VF e34 vehicles.
On October 13, Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Company (GSM) - a company founded by Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong and 95% owned by him - announced that it has promoted the import of 150 VinFast electric cars into the Lao market to deploy the SM Green electric taxi service. According to the plan, the company plans to launch the electric taxi service in Laos this year with a fleet size of up to 1,000 VF 5 Plus and VF e34 cars. Initially, the company will develop the electric taxi service, moving towards fully developing the service ecosystem, including electric car rental and value-added services such as package car booking, tourist car booking, personalized car booking, etc.

In addition to its own business activities, in the future, GSM Laos will also implement B2B activities such as selling and leasing VinFast electric cars, similar to the model currently being implemented in Vietnam. The company expects that with a diverse approach, it will gradually create a habit of using vehicles and experiencing the noiseless, emission-free travel of electric vehicles. Through the SM Green Taxi service, on the other hand, GSM also aims to contribute to promoting VinFast to the regional market. Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong's company stated that Laos is a neighboring country of Vietnam, with policies to support and encourage the use of electric vehicles in state agencies as well as the entire population. The national goal is that by 2030, 30% of the total number of vehicles in circulation will be electric vehicles and 200 public charging stations nationwide. Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh - General Director of GSM - said: "Laos is a country that is geographically close and has many similarities with Vietnam, and is also very open to electric vehicles and is a great choice for GSM to initiate its international strategy. After Laos, we will continue to expand our operations to other countries". GSM was established and put into operation in April according to the world's first multi-platform green transport model with a 100% pure electric fleet.
