Leaders of the United States, China, Russia, the European Union (EU), Egypt and Israel have sent congratulations to Mr. Tayyip Erdogan on his re-election as President of Türkiye.

* On May 29, US President Joe Biden had a phone call with his newly re-elected Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The White House boss mentioned the F-16 aircraft deal between the two countries, as well as Turkey's approval for Sweden to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
Speaking after the phone call about these two contents, the US President stated: "We will talk more about this next week."
* On the same day, speaking in a phone call with Mr. Erdogan, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the Turkish leader on his re-election. The Russian leader stated: "The Turkish people's support for their leader opens up many new avenues for developing bilateral relations in a number of areas."
* On May 29, in a message published by Xinhua News Agency (China), President Xi Jinping congratulated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his re-election and emphasized the “extensive common interests” between the two countries. Xi said he was “willing to work with Erdogan to promote mutual understanding and support” to promote “bilateral strategic cooperative relations”. Previously, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning also affirmed that Beijing “attaches great importance to its relations with Turkey”.
* On May 29, European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell and Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi welcomed the second round of the Turkish presidential election on May 28 with a high voter participation rate.
Congratulating Mr Erdogan on his election, the EU underlines its strategic interest in a mutually beneficial and cooperative relationship with Türkiye and all its people, in a stable and secure environment in the Eastern Mediterranean. The bloc stands ready to work with Ankara towards a constructive relationship for shared prosperity and stability, based on commitments to human rights, the rule of law, international law and regional stability, in the interests of all EU and Turkish citizens.
* Also on May 29, Israeli President Isaac Herzog called his Turkish counterpart to congratulate him. A statement from the Israeli President's Office stated: "The two sides discussed the importance of cooperation to protect stability, promote regional peace and deepen the effective bilateral relationship." The two leaders also expressed hope to meet again soon.
* Meanwhile, during a phone call between Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi congratulating Mr. Erdogan on his election as President of Turkey, Cairo and Ankara agreed to upgrade diplomatic relations and appoint Ambassadors.
Accordingly, the Egyptian Presidential Palace said that President El-Sisi congratulated Mr. Erdogan on his re-election. The two leaders affirmed the depth of the historical relationship that binds the two countries and peoples and agreed to strengthen Egypt-Turkey relations and promote cooperation between the two countries. Over the past year, Cairo and Ankara have held ministerial-level talks to normalize relations after the two countries severed diplomatic ties in 2013.
In April 2023, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu in Cairo. At a joint press conference, Mr. Shoukry stated that Egypt and Türkiye agreed on a time frame for upgrading relations. For his part, Mr. Cavusoglu said that the two sides are coordinating preparations for the high-level summit and said that the schedule for appointing ambassadors of the two countries will be announced soon.
