People's Artist Trung Hieu takes the hot seat of the 2024 Piano Talent Search Competition

The Vietnam Institute for Educational and Cultural Development in collaboration with the Department of Grassroots Culture (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) announced the 2024 National Open Piano Competition (Festival Piano Talents 2024).

This is a competition for ages 5-19 held nationwide.

The competition is organized with the desire to spread the love of music to students and parents who love Piano. Through the competition, the Organizing Committee hopes to discover and nurture many musical talents towards professionalism according to the general trend of society.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan, Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest, President of the Vietnam Institute for Education and Culture Development, said: Some studies in the US have shown that children learning piano or any musical instrument before the age of 7 can not only increase their ability to perceive melodies, increase connections to the nervous system, but also increase the speed of brain use, stimulate the brain. Besides, it has the ability to increase IQ, helping children learn better.

People's Artist Trung Hieu, Director of Hanoi Drama Theater, was a judge of the competition.

The jury of the competition includes: Dr. Dao Trong Tuyen, Head of the Piano Department (Vietnam National Academy of Music), People's Artist Pham Ngoc Khoi, Vice President of the Vietnam Musicians Association, Music Master Luong Duc Thang, Deputy Director of the Department of Grassroots Culture (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), People's Artist Trung Hieu, Director of the Hanoi Drama Theater...

Participating as a guest judge, People's Artist Trung Hieu, Director of Hanoi Drama Theater, hopes that there will be more programs like this. According to him, this is a way to sow seeds, creating a premise for us to have wonderful future generations.

The contest is divided into 5 groups by age with three rounds: talent search round, shining round, final round and awarding gala. In which, the talent search round will be held online from January 2, 2024 to January 16, 2024.

The 2024 National Open Piano Competition will take place from January 2, 2024 to March 24, 2024. The final night will be held at the Vietnam National Academy of Music.
